ITN film documentary about 82' conflict

Film director, Mike Beckham and cameramen, Tim Mills and Steven Grey have been in the Falklands to film a documentary coinciding with the 20th Anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands. They said that the documentary is not political but looking through the eyes of soldiers that were involved in the war. The film crew first spent a week in Argentina interviewing pilots and soldiers before arriving in the Falklands on the Lan Chile flight. Here, they filmed all over the islands including Ajax Bay, Pebble Island, San Carlos and Stanley. They filmed battlefield sites with camera shots being taken with the crew running to create a simulation in the bunkers. The FIDF were also filmed running up Mount Longdon in a night shoot. The crew interviewed between 35 and 40 people associated with the war from Major General Julian Thompson to soldiers on the ground. Two Falkland Islanders involved in the filming were Terry Peck and Ron Binnie. The documentary will be shown this time next year and copies will be sent to the Falklands for the museum and other people involved. Film Director Mike Beckham thanked all those whom helped in the filming of the documentary.
