New York's Empire State Building, the highest skyscraper of the Big Apple, next Tuesday will be illuminated with the royal colors, violet and gold, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

The Empire State Building is usually lit according to the year's season, Unites States holidays or the national days of the many nationalities that make up the population of New York.

However this "unusual commemoration" is in line with honors extended to some of the world's leading personalities, such was in 1990 to Nelson Mandela.

"It's in honor to Queen Elizabeth kingdom and the close relations between Great Britain and the United States", said Mr. Howard Rubenstein, Public Relations for the sky scraper.

The Empire State Building, once again the tallest building in New York following the terrorist attack and demolition of the twin towers last September, will be lit with violet and gold next Tuesday from sun down to midnight.

Last September, two days after the attacks in New York and Washington, Queen Elizabeth requested the American national hymn be sang during the changing of the royal palace guard.
