    BAS farewell to Antarctic veteran mariner.

    The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) has finally said goodbye to its veteran Antarctic captain, Stewart Lawrence, after a series of farewell parties marking his 33 annual voyages to the Antarctic, and 42 years at sea.

    Mercosur cautious about CAP reforms.

    Mercosur countries reacted cautiously to the latest Common Agriculture Policy, CAP, agreement reached by the European Union after three weeks of hard bargaining. The gigantic sum of 43 billion Euros annually ploughed into EU farms will be substantially reduced and apparently reoriented as of 2005, towards a more environment friendly and quality agriculture.

    Uruguay supports “monetary convergence”

    Uruguay that is holding the Mercosur chair for the next six months will give priority to the creation of a monetary and exchange rate convergence on the lines described by Argentine Minister of Economy Roberto Lavagna.
