Recovering the Falklands is “important”.

The poll contracted by President Kirchner's administration is taken regularly to monitor public opinion response to government's decisions and announcements.

The poll also indicates that 8 out of 10 interviewed favour the resumption of sovereignty talks over the Falklands with the United Kingdom and expect President Kirchner to bring up the issue in his coming trip to Britain this month.

President Kirchner has been invited by British Primer Minister Tony Blair to participate in London with other world leaders in a Third Way forum scheduled for July 13th.

In his first address on the issue, Argentine Foreign Affairs Minister Rafael Bielsa said that recovering the Islands was a long term diplomatic goal and pointed out to the need to establish closer links with the Islanders.
