Two trawlers that collided in heavy fog in Port William in the Falkland Islands Thursday July 31 are ready to resume operations in the high seas.

The collision that resulted with no crewmembers injured, occurred at approximately 15:45 hours and involved an incoming Korean trawler and an outgoing Spanish similar vessel.

According to Falklands Marine Officer Jon Clark the Korean flagged "Pratadina 28" which was more superficially damaged, left port for the high seas fishing ground in the early hours of August 1.

However the Spanish "Loitador" that experienced a big gash in her starboard bow was still at FIPASS Friday morning after a whole night of plate welding.

"It is hoped she will leave later today (Friday)", reported Mr. Jon Clark.

Both vessels have licences to fish in Falklands waters.
