Ms. Vacher landed in British Antarctic Survey base Rothera mid afternoon after having taken off in the morning from Ushuaia, almost a thousand miles distance, in her Piper Dakota.

According to Ushuaia press reports Ms. Vacher actually spent a month and a half in the most southern city of the world waiting for appropriate conditions to jump over the Drake Passage, one of the most turbulent and difficult legs of her trip.

From Rothera Ms. Vacher will fly over the Southern Pole heading for New Zealand to begin the Asia and Europe section of her adventure before returning to departure point in Birmingham airport.

Last October 6, Ms. Vacher reached Buenos Aires and then flew to Trelew in Chubut and finally Ushuaia preparing for the South Pole jump.

Ms. Vacher who figures in the Guinness book of records with several air feats left Birmingham last May 6. Prince Charles was present at the ceremony.
