Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina said in Santiago that Latin America has much to learn from Chile regarding economics and institutional security.

"The region has a lot to learn from Chile, from investment policies and stability to the emphasis on growth and institutional security" Ms. Fiorina underlined after meeting with Chilean President Ricardo Lagos.

Ms. Fiorina considered one of the world's most influential businesswomen, added that Chile stands out among nations because of its stable and predictable economy.

"In addition, the Chilean government's policies toward investors are very friendly," said the head of the world's largest manufacturer of printers.

Ms. Fiorina who arrived in Santiago on Wednesday from Buenos Aires, said that Hewlett-Packard was very happy with the results obtained by its affiliate in Chile.

"We have a strong team in Chile, our activity is dynamic, and we have had good results" she insisted, adding that markets in Argentina and Brazil were also important to HP.

However Ms. Fiorina's scheduled interview on Wednesday in Buenos Aires with president Nestor Kirchner never took place because after waiting for 45 minutes the CEO recalled she also "had a full and busy agenda", and left Government House, Casa Rosada.
