MPs and Falklands' Councillor invited to Gibraltar Day

A group of UK MPs and one MEP led by Lindsay Hoyle will be guests of the Government of Gibraltar for the National Day festivities this Sunday 10 September.

The group includes former Conservative Shadow Foreign Secretary Michael Ancram and Gibraltar and South-West MEP Liberal Democrat Graham Watson. Mike Summers OBE from the Falkland Islands Council is also part of the group.

"The Chief Minister Peter Caruana will be hosting a reception on the eve of National Day which they will be attending along with representatives from a wide cross section of the community. There will also be an official dinner, in their honour, to which all members of the Gibraltar House of Assembly have been invited on National Day," says a Government statement.

The Chief Minister will be giving the group an extensive briefing of Gibraltar issues ahead of Sunday's rally which starts at 12.30 pm at Casemates.

"These will be followed by the traditional release of 30,000 balloons at Casemates Square symbolising Gibraltar's self determination," said the Government.

The following Parliamentarians are joining the Chairman of the All Party Gibraltar Group Lindsay Hoyle MP (Lab): David Crausby MP (Lab); Tobias Ellwood MP (Cons); Anne Moffat MP (Lab); Graham Brady MP (Cons); Andrew Rosindell MP (Cons); Jim Sheridan MP (Lab); Mark Simmonds MP (Cons); Graham Watson MEP (Lib Dem); Michael Ancram MP (Cons); Jimmy Hood MP (Lab); Madeleine Moon MP(Lab); Eleanor Laing MP (Cons); Geraldine Smith MP (Lab); Mike Penning MP (Cons) and Mike Summers OBE (Falkland Islands elected Councillor).
