Falkland Islands coastal vessel, Tamar, survived unscathed a beaching on Bold Rocks at Keppel Island on North West Falklands on Saturday morning.

Now back safely in Stanley after assistance from Ministry of Defence vessel St. Brandon, Tim Cotter, a spokesperson for the owners, the Falkland Islands Development Corporation, said Tamardidn't appear to have sustained any damage at all. Mr Cotter explained that the vessel arrived in Stanley 8am Monday morning accompanied by St Brandon. He said the greater part of the problem had not been the beaching on the rocks but the failure of air compressors that were needed to start the vessel and control the engines. He said it was this and the need to wait for suitably high tides had delayed the operation. The vessel is managed by Gardners of Glasgow and has suffered a beaching before. Mr Cotter confirmed that the Captain of the vessel will compile a report on the incident shortly. By Lisa Johnston - SeAled PR - Stanley
