Princess Royal to visit Falkland Islands in March

TWO years after her last visit HRH The Princess Royal will be returning to the Falkland Islands.

Princess Anne, who is ninth in line to the throne, will be visiting the South Atlantic from March 23 to April 3, 2009 at the invitation of the South Georgia Heritage Trust (SGHT). HRH is patron of the SGHT. The Princess Royal will be accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence. The Princess Royal will be arriving and departing from the Falkland Islands. On March 24 and 25, 2009, she will carry out a number of public engagements. These include visits to the Royal Falkland Islands Police Station, Fire and Rescue Service Station, Infant Junior and Community Schools, Liberty Lodge, Falkland Islands Defence Force Headquarters, Cape Pembroke Lighthouse and Atlantic Conveyor Memorial, Port Louis Settlement and Stanley Power Station. Brother of the Princess Royal, Prince Charles, is first in line to the British throne followed by his two sons, William and Harry. Her younger brother Andrew is fourth followed by his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie. Seventh is Prince Edward and eighth is Lady Louise Windsor. Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, also visited the Falkland Islands two years ago in order to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentine occupation.
