A graphology profile of Uruguay’s presidential candidates for the coming October 25th election has surfaced such adjectives as “impulsive” and “egocentric”. The report was published in Montevideo’s main daily El Pais following on the “readings” of the signatures of three of the hopefuls.

The ruling coalition candidate Jose Mujica is described as “practical”, “charming”; his main opponent Luis Alberto Lacalle, “methodical” and “egocentric” while Pedro Bordaberry is seen as “impulsive”.

Incumbent Mujica who leads in vote intention polls “lets out his thoughts and emotions easily and spontaneously” and is “impatient, practical and protagonist”.

Lacalle candidate for the main opposition National party is “certain about his statements, never wavers” and clearly does not feel uncomfortable with routine and is “mistrustful”.

Bordaberry from the Colorado party, the youngest of three candidates and a distant third in opinion polls has a “strong peremptory character” but is also “natural, cordial and straight forward”.

However “vanity” is a sin identified with the leading candidate and former guerrilla leader, while Lacalle’s weak point is “gluttony” and Bordaberry, “disobedience”.

Graphology is described as the study and analysis of handwriting especially in relation to human psychology and the personality of an individual.

The last Sunday of October Uruguay’s electorate will be voting for the successor of President Tabare Vazquez whose mandate ends March first.

Opinion polls have the ruling Broad Front and candidate ahead but to confirm Mujica as president he needs 50% of the vote; if not a run off has to be held a month later.
