Official media invites Cubans to open their minds and “disagree”

The Cuban Official ruling Cuban Communist Party newspaper Granma called on Cubans to open their minds and “disagree”, adding that it was “erroneous to coincide with all opinions” in a community that has been forged on the basis of “commitment and consensus”.

Granma would like from Cubans a “vote for sincerity”.

“In our community many believe that it is necessary to coincide with all opinions or views, which is an erroneous attitude” says Granma in a political opinion article titled “Vote for sincerity”.

The article calls for a more “participative, honest and mainly united society, which does not mean hypocritical”.

“Unfortunately there are people whom after expressing conformity with some public comments or statements, then say the most horrible things and denigrate what they have just praised, as soon as they turn their faces”, underlined the “sincerity vote” piece.

It also makes reference to people “with certain responsibilities that confess to retaining their own true opinion because they do not coincide with those of the majority, even when on occasions they have positive, accurate reflections over the issue”.

“And we also come across participants in events, assemblies or meetings where documents or ideas are discussed that then are submitted to a vote and with which everybody publicly agrees. Nevertheless informally many consider the contrary and tend to gossip about it”.

Granma described these attitudes as “shameful” and “not at all sincere”.
