A slight drop in hake landings between January and November compared to the same period a year ago has been registered in Argentina according to official statistics released this week.

A total of 226.726 tons of hake were landed until 13 November, which represents a 3.3% drop from the 234.387 tons in 2008, points out data furnished by the Under Secretariat of Fisheries.

The port of Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires province landed 152.751 tons of hake; Puerto Madryn Port in Chubut, 31.779 tons and Caleta Paula, Santa Cruz province, 10.647.

Landings in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut reached 7.450 tons and the port terminal of San Antonio Este, Rio Negro, 6.765 tons, among others.

According to official data, fresh fish vessels unloaded 143.903.5 tons of common hake and trawlers, 55.179.8 tons. Coastal vessels, meanwhile, landed 16.531 tons, among other fishing vessels. (FIS)
