14 june is fake liberation day; true liberation day would be the day without conflict.

True Liberation Day WILL be the one that celebrates the Falkland Islander's seat in the UN.

You'll have to wait a very long time for a day without conflict Billy. And anyway, if there had been no Argentine invasion, there would be no liberation day to mark...

I don't recall anyone making derogatory comments about “Malvinas Day” and the ceremonies commemorating the Argentine dead, even though in somewhat bad taste it is also a celebration of Argentina's invasion of a peaceful island community.

    'nuff said Billy?

Islander that privilege is reserved for real countries not British little colonies around the World.

Marco, the Falklands are not a colony but there we go again justifying your racist views, on a day commemorating war dead. And you wonder why the Islanders want nothing to do with Argentina.

Every armistice is as good as it was bad the war that lead to it. The islanders have nothing to be afraid of. They were not the invaders albeit some of their ancestors were, thanks to an American pirate who paved the way for them. Whether sovereignty is to be ever discussed, is not what we, common people, should consider, but to try not to disturb each others'' lives. One day, perhaps, there'll be a final word and everybody would have to bind to it. Meanwhile, let us pray for our dead, and also for ourselves, to live in reciprocal peace. But be aware: there are agitators on both sides. They surely are after something that we cannot see...

    American pirate?

The only one I can think of is David Jewett, who claimed to represent Argentina, well the United Provinces of the River Plate actually.

Yes !!!...American pirate!! Captain Silas M Duncan was ordered to set sail ,and try to find disappeared ships in the South Atlantic area.
He eventually found them (4). They were captured and plundered.
He liberated them, and prisoned the people , who had made the
    PIRACY!!
He did not execute them, but sailed them to BA to be judged for their criminality.
The captain acted very human to the criminals (among which was a man named Vernet).
At that time (1831) ,usual behaviour, was immediate execution., if you were caught and had practicised pirate activity.
The captain S M Duncan did not practisice piracy!! Contrary he liberated vessels which had been captured by pirates.
Argie, how can you call the captain of Lexington for an American pirate?Dont you understand we live in a world, where it is possible to get information from numerous sources?
Misinformation and natiolism very often walk together!!!

Marco, to dismiss the Falkland Islanders as undeserving of any rights because they happen to associate themselves with the UK is racist.

Marco - tell me, in the last 60 years, how many of those “little colonies” have gained seats in the UN ?

Argie - you are not a student of history I see .... both the British and American versions differ quite widely from your poor interpretation. Truth will out!

    Imagine there's no Heaven
    It's easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today

    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace

    Imagine no possessions
    I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

@ Jorge: The pot is calling the kettle black!

For a liberation day, where people died, to return the Islanders freedom to choose to themselves, I thought it worth posting again to comment on the stupidity of war.

There is no war here Domingo!!!!

Harrier, China has done that and also use its econmy to prevent other countries from recognizing Taiwan as a country. READ, IGNORANT!!!!

Perhaps someone could help me here. At n.21 jorge! criticises Domingo for posting the same in every article. And yet, in every article on which jorge! posts, sooner or later he (?) posts the same thing, sometimes more than once. Isn't this a blog for sensible, informed, intelligent comments and discussions?

Seems to be that Glenn can’t get his “old rig” repaired in Brazil.
If the Falklands and BP where cars:
In the case of the Islands they fervently explain:
Is a British Wauxhall not an Opel !
In the case of BP they vehemently declare:
It’s an Opel not a British Wauxhall !

    Same car under the Bonnet.
