“When a government is tolerant with diversity, it helps to create a respectful media”

Though that didn't happen. 8 years, and Lula and his cabinet have received from the media nothing but slanders, insults, fabricated stories forged to grab the reader's attention. “Veja” itself has given space to some of the most angry-driven journalists, Diogo Mainardi, who has been so often defeated at courts over slander accusations, that he's leaving the country to avoid paying the amount of money the justice has determined he should pay.

But that lashing back at the media will only make things worse, is correct. It's a lesson that Lula himself has learned - the reason he almost spent 8 years quiet about media persecution against him.

When listening to Pepe Mujica always remember the old Spanish saying...:
“Mas sabe el Diablo por Viejo que por Diablo”
And Mujica is extremely “Viejo” if you get my meaning…..

I’m already buying the ingredients for a Dilmairiña party on October 3th…..

    Saludos

@ AMGVVV, not only was there not a bond sale this year, but Uruguay actually bought back some of its debt early. Uruguay's debt is actually falling at the moment. They were spendin like crazy in 08, 09, but right now debt is actually falling significantly, and looks like it will for the next few years at least.

Pepe was not a favourite of mine. However I must commend his overall conduct. He is a shining example to other leaders in the region considering Uruguays position. The one exemplary statesman - so far. May he continue being a leader and not a democratic dictator al la Correa, Chavez and Morales.
