” “Often” described as the penguin capital of the world, the Falkland Islands”……
    Really……………..? Let´s google….
    New Zealand: 1580 hits …………………..
    http://www.google.com/#hl=en&biw=1004&bih=516&q=%22penguin+capital+of+the+world%22+New+Zealand&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=%22penguin+capital+of+the+world%22+New+Zealand&gs_rfai=&fp=3559d46edd946ce8
Falkland Islands (or Falklands): 5 hits (MercoPress and Penguin News:-)……………..
    http://www.google.com/#hl=en&biw=1004&bih=516&q=%22penguin+capital+of+the+world%22+New+Zealand&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=%22penguin+capital+of+the+world%22+New+Zealand&gs_rfai=&fp=3559d46edd946ce8
And the winner of the title ”Penguin Capital of the world” by acclamation is:……….. New Zealand
Anyhow I would like to make a donation to this worthy project: A good piece of advice…..
What about banning all commercial fishing in a radius of 30 miles from the penguin colonies?
That’s how it’s done in New Zealand and Dr. Binghamland. (Chile and Argentina)
In those places the penguin colonies are not declining, they are stable.
    A quick bio-mathematical calculation….
The 5 million penguins that “disappeared” from the Falklands during the last decades would, if they weren’t dead, eat about 60.000 tons of squid per year…… (12 kg. per penguin per season)
That’s close to the so called “sustainable” annual commercial catch in the Islands………..
Do the fishermen want those 5 million penguins back?
    What do you “Think”?

Mmm, were Bingham correct in his assertions, there would be no Penguins in the Falkland Islands at this time. Falklands Conservation has also been very successful in reducing albatross mortality, the FIG has been very good at conserving fish stocks.

Sadly, for Think, this does not conform to his prejudice so he presents his one sided monologue diatribe. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Isn't Mr Bingham the one that had to escape to Argentina with his family from Malvinas?

Yes, the penguins had put a contract out on him for being a 'pain in the arse' !

Think - I'm a practical sort of a fella and it seems to me that there are still a lot of penguins and that adds up to a lot of meat ... how does penguin taste? Compared to pheasant or partridge say!

Just the penguins ..... he was still a pain in the arse to the Government there (nice phrase, like it :-), but they're too tight to spend money on him !

Marcos, he doesn't have a family any more, she lives quite happily in Stanley with an Islander, she left him because he was a habitual liar and a fraud, he runway and she stayed, according to penguin news she was quite delighted the back of him.

He fled the islands because as his own lawyer put it “He didn't wish publicly for unsavory aspects of his personal character and integrity to be visited during the court proceedings”.

He is a national joke in the islands and his so called novel, “The Falklands Regime” was sold out upon its release in the Falklands under the comedy section.

As per usual Malvinist's have an inherent need to believe the smoke mirrors tale of a brutal dictatorship, but as ocam Razor says, the reality is usually the simplest explanation, Bingham was a fraud and a liar who pulled the wool over every one until a background check revealed he wasn't who he said he was, but by that time the damage was already done and the FIG panicked and revoked his application for Falklands belonger status, he then fled and left his lawyer and (by now ex) wife to pick up the pieces.

Ah Yes Think is still sucking Binghams cock and taking his word that based on two sites Fingham monitored that 5 million out of a population of 8 million had dissapeared in less than 20 years.

    - What's up MercoPress? Aren't you going to remove the insulting comment of this disgusting man/woman/ET?

    Take it easy…….Relax......

The Brutish gentleman has certainly a perfectly valid explanation for his rudeness.
    Could be,for example:
In Britain it is not rude, insulting or uncommon for a man to su** another mans co**………..
    Or:
I do it all the time with my mates! What’s the fuss all about?............
    Or:
That’s the way Brutish men bond together!…………..

Yes Gorge, Think is still Sucking on Binghams tough old Cockrell that he cooked for him the other night.

Unless you actually think that I meant his penis? you see Jigaboo, “Cock” can mean many things, but we all now what Jorge stands for:

Vile, abusive, Terrorist loving, obsessive, Lonely, thuggish, angry, rude, un-polite, thick headed, moron, now go forth and multiply repeatedly with your self! Any report coming from you to Mercopress is bound to be laughed at, you've had more complaints and posts deleted than any of us here!

A Valid explanation you say? Could it be that your obsessing over a man whose word has been proven to be complete and utter lies, as we say to beleive such obvious lies is to suck that persons Girth, in other words you willingly allow Bingnhams Lies (cleverly metaphord as a his girth), to be inserted into your oral cavity and then you proceed to move your mouth up and down as if sucking an ice lolly eagerly guzzling down the juicy richness because it gives you the pleasurable experience of actually having something that reassures your unfortunate need to beleive everything negative about the Islands, for not to beleive is to put in doubt the righteousness of your claim.

Typhoon, he was certainly not an Argie Plant although that describes the level of intelligence it takes to beleive his mind numbingly outrageous claims.

    Dr. Binghan…. A liar?

Quite strange then, that Dr Bingham’s most important documents are still being used today as valid research material by the Falkland Authorities.
His three most important (and challenging) papers have been recently referred in the:
“Falklands Islands State of the Environment Raport 2008”

“Falklands Islands State of the Environment Raport 2008”

'Rapport' - doesn't sound like he managed much of that with the islanders?

The problem with ex-spurts Think, is that in a field of almost none, one is taken seriously. I recall people using old papers of mine - even got referenced in the back of a couple of books - but that doesn't actually mean that I knew what I was talking about !

And my impression of the man from what I've read - including some of his own words - is an inflated ego with huge potential to be a 'pain in the arse' ....... what's your opinion?

I “think” that “more than enough” focus has been put on “all aspects” of Dr. Bingham’s life and activities by the FIG to tear down and discredit anything he ever touched.

Remember, we are not speaking here of an obscure paper about Warrah coprolites but about a very critical rapport regarding the industry that generates more than 60% of the islands revenue.

The fact that Dr. Bingham research still is used by the FIG, vouches for the quality of the same…

Remember too that Port Stanley is no “big town”……
You don’t “just” get caught in the impersonal bureaucratic machine by an anonymous pen pusher in Stanley.
Everybody knows everybody and things happen for a reason…….
Legal stuff and other niceties amount to “near nothing” when you antagonize the dominant faction in such a small and closed society as the Falklands.

Anybody that has lived in very small communities for a long period of time can tell you this………..

Ah yes Coastline surveys, I did those when I did my Duke of Edinburgh award aged 12, some of my “findings” where published in the monthly county ornithology magazine, doesn't take a diploma to take a pen and paper and record the different plant varieties along certain sections of the coast.

Curious I must admit that they are using a discredited fraud and fantasist as a foot note, but it is by no means definitive.

Seeing as there are no footnotes and sources relating to his claims of a 90% drop in all penguin numbers, and this being directly related to fishing and the oil exploration. we can conclude that at least in the field of plant indexing he had some merits, and maybe also in drawing pretty pictures of Penguins as well, not surprising since he was a warden with the national trust, which requires basically no qualifications at all.

But that doesn't “vouch” for any quality in his work or what he said, his website proves that, as do the Supreme court minutes.

Apart from that he was a liar a fraud a loner and an alarmist and not necessarily in that order.

If legal niceties counted for nothing Think, then why did he use the courts?

And I wouldn’t read much into small town conspiracies, 99.9% of the time the one doing all the shouting is usually the one in the wrong, trust me on this I live in a small town setting, we had someone posting pieces of paper around the county about a supposed Sex Scandal at a local school, turns no sex scandal and the people doing the dirty where the parents of a recently expelled pupil. Funny that Mr Binghams claims only came out after he had been fired and left the islands, obviously because he knew he could concoct a story with relative impunity from Falklands and UK defamation laws, and in Argentina he knew he would have a very nice support base of idiots willing to guzzle down every bit of crap he spewed out without ever bothering to question his claims so long as it involved the Falklands.

re Mr Bingham. all this is irrelevant to the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands. even if all the people there were mass-murderers(of course they are not!), that has got nothing to do with Argentina. the Falkland lslands belong to the Falkland lslanders, they have NEVER belonged to Argentina
