There will ba a warm and friendly welcome awaiting them in Salvador, Bahia - particularly from the British Society which meet regularly above the Yacht Club, on the cliff, in the British Chapel.
Two of the sailors from the original Beagle expedition are buried in the British Cemetry here.
This has been the 'home' of the British in the Capital of Brasil - when this was the capital of Brasil - since 1824.
Most British and Americans (there is also an American Society) meet frequently, and often in joint social and cultural events.
There are us, the permanent residents, and also those on 2, 3, 4, 5 year secondments to the large industries located in Brasil, particularly the oil and motor industries.
So, Fido, there will be many, many 'foreigners' forever coming and going to support globalised industry; then there are those of us that choose to live in this fair land and have earned the right to do so.

Cricket is hard-ball - more for British ex-colonies.
The British tend to play hard ball - and you can get seriously hurt if you try to play the British at their own game.
Tea & cucumber?
Not really, there's an awful lot of coffee in Brasil ;-)
