Let's hope that this is Dilma's first move to break with the old corrupt establishment governing cartel.

Dilma had to accept the ministers given to her when she was elected.
Dilma had to accept a coalition not of her choosing.
Dilma had to accept known multiply-corrupt ministers.
Dilma had to accept massive pay increases for all politicians.
Dilma is having to learn the hard way to be an intuitive politician rather than a hard-ball administrator.

What we have all been waiting for is -
to see how she manages to deal with a Brasil mired in corruption from top to bottom.
Because this is the REAL Brasilian core issue, not poverty.

With elimination of corruption, vast amounts of money become released to aid poverty - and it reduces the gap between the rich and the poor in an ethical rather than a Robin Hood fashion.

On this day that Palocci is let go from Government,
Daniel Dantes, the corrupt Brasilian banker is let go free from jail.

The signs are NOT auspicious that Dilma is willing or able to win in a head-to-head with the old-guard.

They have the capacity to frustrate and block every move to remove corruption, and Dilma does not have the support from the man in the street necessary to face them down.

Perhaps she is, indeed, the wrong President, and we will have to wait many more years post-Lula for our White Knight.

By then, Brasil's window of opportunity will be closed for good, and Brasil will have sunk once more into the thrall of the world's successful economies.

Geotard, seriously, don't you get tired of your own bs?
And let's be fair, corruption in Brazil is as high as in your old country. I know you will type it's not true, it's impossible bla bla bla, but that's the reality. Something you just can't stand.

On this day that Palocci is let go from Government,
Daniel Dantes, the corrupt Brasilian banker is let go free from jail.

Palocci was forced to step down, for the second time. First time he was innocent and there was no prove against him. Second time? we still don't know because all what the opposition has is rhetoric. Rhetoric a clown like you believes in. you are innocent until proven guilty.

Daniel Dantas, a brilliant banker who knew how to cheat the cheaters. There is no evidence against him and not even the FBI in the US could crack his code to check his hard drive. You are innocent until proven guilty.

It seems you will never ever grow up and understand that you are living in illusion between left and right. The more you type your comments about subjects you have no clue about, the more you show how dumb you are. Keep going.

#3 ¨You are innocent until proven guilty.¨ Wrong! You are almost correct; you may be as guilty as hell, but you are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

If it looks like it, smells like it, tastes like it,
    and it really appears foul

then your probably right to get rid of it.
Pick it up with a pair of long tongs and drop it in a hole an bury it forever.

The verdict of a court is just a legal nicety and, if the legal system is itself compromised - just bury the foul thing to remove the stench, and be done with it.

Dilma has done exactly this, and while Palocci is 'spending more time with his family' he might reflect on the phrase 'Two strikes (including the Mensalao) and you're out'.

And as for Dantas - his 10 year sentence on a much more minor charge of police bribery, turned out to be less than 2.5 years. The substantive accusations would be nearer a life sentence if followed through - but that requires an uncompromised legal system.

less than 2.5 years? Can you show me a link that he's already out of jail, because I google it, and find nothig that he's out. He went for Bribery to jail..correct, but for the rest..there was no prove. They could not get it.

“The substantive accusations would be nearer a life sentence if followed through - but that requires an uncompromised legal system.”

Interesting you type that. A legal system “without defects”. Does that exist in your beloved UK? Nah...great example just look at Tony Lier Blair, his buddy the one eye jack and their bankster friends who all robbed their beloved citizens with lies (and their tax money with fraudulent made CDO's and you name it all schemes)

The US..where I live? Nah, neither. Great example, Warren Buffet (friend of Obozo) who got just a million dollar fine while his bank Wells Fargo commited a 370 billion dollar money laundring scheme with the Mexican drug cartels..remember that article that was posted here on Mercopress? Oh how about Lloyed Blankfein, both friends with Tony Liar Blair and Obozo. Lied under oath to congress about selling fraudulant made crap to it's clients and betting against them and lie about it again for the second time under oath and never went to jail for that and still is not in jail. Geez..Dantes should have worked for him.

Netherlands maybe? nah..same crap, same bankster story etc. etc.

Yeah Geoff, even in your beloved “first world” nation you like to brag about “indirectly” , requiers an uncompromised legal system, but still doesn't have it. Sad huh..drink more “ice cold tea” old man.
