Authorities in Uruguay say they have found about 600 dead penguins washed up on the Atlantic coast since Saturday. Experts are trying to determine what has killed the sea birds. Read full article

    The prevailing winter Falkland Current is from South to North along the coast of Argentina to Uruguay.
    It meets the North to South Brasil Current off Uruguay, and the food-rich water gives way to food-poor water.

    When storms drive these marine animals too deeply into areas with no food, starvations and deaths occur - like today.
