Well i think the message to Argentina there is that their continued acts of aggression will no longer be tolerated. I suspect the british media will pick up on their such act by Argentina when they report back to ministers in parliment too. In otherwords, i sence our government will raise the game a bit now to put pressure on Argentina rather then continue to sit back and ingore them.

Also great to see british minister in the falklands showing their support and showing interest in the islands and the islanders too.

    Good visit.
These visits & statements need to be made regularly so there can be no confusion in anybody's mind,
at home, in THI, and in continental South America.

I'm glad the visit took in Brasil, where there is Defense trade to be done and bridges to be re-built wrt port visits.

perhaps the maiden voyage of HMS Daring, will be deployed via the falklands,we know the british goverment is still trying to get the brazilion goverment interested in collaberation with the type 26,ship

this being said, would it not be good to see HMS Daring visit brazil on the way down, to the falklands, then visiting south africa, just to let the islanders know, the union jack and the royal navy is keeping them safe .
    justa thought .

Those uninvited British members of parliament should worry more of what is happening in their own country in far away Europe.

@Marcos #5 “Those uninvited British members of parliament should worry more of what is happening in their own country in far away Europe.”

Well heres a fact for you Marcus, they were invited, and despite your fantasy view that they require argentine permission, it is a well known fact that argentina has no sovereignty of the islands and therefore has no say who is allowed to be invited there. And secondly, your country is in a far worser state then what Britain is, so perhaps you should start worrying about lack of energy supply, high inflation, nationlisation of private companies, devaluation of the peso, and restrictions on foreign currency exchange making the cost of living sky rocket in your shanty down beseiged captial and across the rest of Argentina. Oh and tuition fees is old news idiot.

@Marcos #5 Here are some more problems that Argentina has caused herself - just notice the credit!
'Argentina's constant shifts in regulations, price controls, trade restrictions, capital controls and the doctoring of economic data has limited foreign direct investment in the country, with companies turning to Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay as safer bets.'
** Market News International - Buenos Aires **
No-one from outside Argentina is going to bother investing now that CFK and her cronies are pulling stunts like these.

Hey Marcos, how fitting that our MPs happen to be in the FI on the day that RKH announce more confirmed oil in Sea Lion and a brand new oil discovery in Casper.

Good day all around for the region. Looks like petro dollars will be finding their way to the FI regardless of the ineffective actions of your spineless and cowardly government. How can you support them when they do nothing about a cause you feel so passionately about?

Mugica is right Sarkozy might had a bad day with her wife and the region must be united...they(hegemonic countries) want to divide us, but there are agreements already made in defense in economy in culture in education that have priority for the region and are above all others
the solidarity of SAm is essential against the advance of hegemonic countries. Nice to hear this from Mugica. sure he will have the help of the region.

Now lads, we should not ridicule the Argentinians too much after all they have managed to secrete a 'business man' into the role of Ambassador to the USA. You know, one of CFK backhanding specialists who will be able to teach the POTUS how to really rip off the American people, just like CFK.

Marcos - I didn't know HSBC potentially leaving the UK would have an effect on the Falkland Islands? After all I said region (i.e. South Atlantic) so either there is a major flaw in the geographical knowledge of one of us or perhaps you are trying to change the subject again as you don't like it that the oil exploration for RKH is going excellently.

Arrr, it is just too much for you to accept, bless!

How does you new ambassador to the US affect the FI? Struggling to see the link there.

You Argies really like clutching at straws don't you? HSBC, Ambassador to the US and the Falkland Islands. Only a desperate and intellectually challenged bitter Argie could find any link.

The drill bit keeps on turning and Argentina can do nothing about it :-) Well done RKH ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££!

@Marcos #11 - So what is HSBC moved its headquarters out of london. they would still have to pay the £2.5billion a year in order to operate within the UK, which means if it wishes to avoid paying it would have to close all its branches and investment arm within the UK and the UK stock exchange, so moving its headquarters won't change that fact. They are simply doing taking a leaf out of Argentinas book at being a cry baby because they can not get what they want. But whilst they still have operations in the UK, still taking UK citizens money in private accounts then they will still have to adhere to any new regulation and pay the £2.5 billion or they will have control of their UK assets taken and nationalised in order to protect money that UK citizens have in HSBC bank accounts and stocks its as simple as that. So them moving HQ out of london will have no effect on the UK, and if they did move away from the UK stock exchange they would actually lose more than £2.5billion a year.

But as usual Marcos, you never read between the lines and always take the story as face value don't you? Seriously learn to do some research before jumping to the consulsion it will be bad for the UK. And to add to what i put above, if the HSBC did move its HQ out of london, then thats one less bank that we would need to bail out if any future bank bail outs are needed.

This HSBC - is it the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation?
Because I've heard it wants to make its HQ in Hong Kong.
    Seems sensible to me.
    Now if it was called the LSBC . . . . .

@ 27 Not really breaking news is it? Hong Kong was leased to the British and when the lease ran out it went back to the owners. That was the agreement.

@26 I agree. Nothing sinister about the move.

excuse me, On 1 July 1997, the transfer of sovereignty from united kingdom to the PRC occurred, officially ending 156 years of british colonial rule. Hong Kong became China's first special administrative region, and Tung Chee Hwa took office as the first Chief Executive of Hong Kong.
