    Generally the US people are not in favour of big government.
    Obama tried to negotiate closing some of the loopholes that enable tax avoidance by the wealthy, and the Republicans had a pink fit. Remember Herman Cain saying, “If you are poor and out of work, it is your fault”? He represents an extreme view but it exists.
    Fortunately not all rich people and companies are without a social conscience and believe that if they have more they should contribute more to society. I view I concur with.

    Many of these kooks are parasites that derive their wealth from connections to the government. Just ask billionaire Perelman who got a no did $425 million dollar contract from Obama to supply a drug no one wants. Hiring Affirmative Action Presidents has its consequences

    Norquist is not a senator. He is a paid lobbyist, apparently with the ability to cloud republican minds to any sense of reason, justice, or fairness. To me, he is a traitor to his country, which provided the pportunities he has receied and has since used to destroy the middle class in the USA.

    “Generally the US people are not in favour of big government.”

    That's how they were brainwashed for years, while government was getting bigger and bigger under their eyes. Now they, the government who suppose to represent the people by who they were voted in the house and senate, is in bed with corporate through bailouts, qe1, qe2, operation twist etc etc and lying that they paid back. Funny, they don't want big government but hey, let's keep spending on all those welfare schemes plus defence what is the 800 pound gorrila in the room (defence welfare). Nothing is wrong with defence, but don't bitch if you don't have money but support to go to war here and there and build military bases here and there.

    “Remember Herman Cain”

    Who can forget that pizza jerk who's wrong with his nine nine nine that can become ten ten ten and later eleven eleven eleven, bogus flat tax (without getting rid of the other hidden taxes). The truth is, those US ‘Patriotic Billionaires not millionaires’ who plead to Congress don't have their money here in the US. They have the tools to have their money overseas. This bill will hurt small business owners and simple continue to distroy the middle class. Those billionairs don't want competition and Herman Cain doesn't mind that at all, after all, he didn't mind about bailing out the banks who were crying for help (more put a gun on the head of the people in the US and robbed them)

    Mr Norquist is a typical lobbyist. he doesn't work for the people but for the corporations. Don't need to type more about those jerks.

    @6 I should have said that culturally and historically the US people are anti big government. The reality is often different.

    You are right that the rich will be rich, the poor will be poor and the middle classes expand and contract with the rise and fall of the economy.

    We need to pay more taxes so Obama can give lots of cash to “green jobs” cronies and Unions who just happen to be heavy campaign contributors. Now that is a “green econonomy” - lots of “lettuce” for the connected and “green” with envy for those of us who actually work for a living.

    @8

    The game is over for so called west, whatever that is.
    No matter what we do, but in the long term Ron Paul ( he understand that himself) is the only man there in Washington DC who is pro defence but against ridiculous military actions and bases around the world, He's a mind your own business man, stay out of other's people's business, period, understands the difference between ”real money (gold and silver) and FIAT currencies, why “real money” should not be in the hands of private entity who's share holders are the private mega banks and foreign mega banks, why corporatism=fascism and why bailouts are against the laws of true free market capitalism.
    sounds dramatic, but he is the last hope of the US.

    Geo, excellent link.
