After spending New Year’s Eve with her family, Argentine President Cristina Fernández returned to Buenos Aires Monday midday from El Calafate, Santa Cruz province, less than 48 hours before she undergoes surgery for a thyroid gland carcinoma.

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner celebrated the arrival of the New Year with her children Florencia and Maximo, her mother Ofelia Wilhem, her mother-in-law María Ostoic, her daughter-in-law Rocío and her sister in law Alicia Kirchner, among others including the presidential doctor.

On Wednesday the Argentine president will be going to the Austral Hospital to undergo surgery for a tumour which has not developed metastasis according to clinical reports. It is expected that a week after the surgery, Cristina Fernandez will return to her residence at El Calafate, where doctors say she should be making a full recovery.

Her leave of absence will last at least 20 days, and Vice-President Amado Boudou will be in charge of the Executive branch until she resumes her activities.

Don't worry, if the Botox Queen doesn't survive surgery the fat boy will be there to continue stealing all of Argentina's wealth. Fellow Peronists will get some of the mordida, but not much.
