Very risky and I love it :-).

This funding will allow for a full spectrum deep drill of Loligo with over 4bn recoverable if the bitch has the black stuff. If this comes in it is a potential millionaire maker for a relativly small investment.

I see the deluded plastic Paddy has embarrassed himself again :-) these Argies are useful for entertainment. Perhaps that why they exist, to entertain their betters?

To date (2011), the Argentine Army has ten brigades:

two armored brigades (1st and 2nd),
    three mechanized brigades (9th, 10th and 11th),
    three mountain brigades (5th, 6th and 8th),
    one paratroopers brigade (4th) and

@3 Sir Rodderick Bodkin Like we did in the Gulf of mexico ? Although BP is a British company, it was actually the U.S at fault. There are american shareholders, there were more american workers on the rig, and the authorities that were meant to check up on the rig ? You guessed it american. The only problems the islanders face about the oil, are when the grubby Argies try to steal it....

how dose it backfire um, ban on flights to the islands from SA that stops Argentine vet's and there Family's travailing to the Falklands, But gets us New and Better air links, ban on ships flying the Falklands Flag loss of revenue for Uruguay, But getting us a New Deep-water port, and then there is all the laughter we have at you lot, as for you not seeing any collateral effects, TRY OPENING YOUR EYE'S it may help you see what's going on in your own country.

UK must stop stealing the South American Resources now. First, the british stole the land using the military force, after that, they continued stealing the resources (oil and gas, fish, among others). Perhaps, as a consequence, in a short term, UK can obtain some additional earnings, however you need to take into account that all South America will never forget these thefts, therefore in a long-term view it´s clear that it will be worse for this country.

John Farrell. Please educate yourself. The Falkland Island issues the licences and collects the revenues. The resources belong to the Falkland Islanders, not the UK. The UK does not make any money from the Falkland Islands.

#25.How much US dollar are you currently being allowed to buy? Gvt subsidies drying up, not paying defaulted debt, import restrictions within your free trade zone (now that is funny). Hmmmm the evidence says you are up shit creek without a paddle.

As usual beef,as an economist you are soo ignorant...so you did not know(so you told me) that uk has the 3rd world largest foreign debt...Something like 9 trillion pounds....Argetnina foreign debt is a mere 130 bilions.....very affordable.Who is in a better position???

    Jan 14th, 2012 - 07:33 pm - Link - Report abuse 0
  • Beef

Actually Malviner the UK public debt is in the region of £975bn. If your foreign debt was very affordable then why are you still unable to pay the defaulted debt you have? Them blasted interest rates, they just wont come down for you will they.

Our assets are worth a lot more than our debt so this is why we remain a AAA (Stable) with Europe looking to us with envy.

I can go and exchange my pounds for any currency I wish the the UK gvt doesn't give too hoots. Why does your gvt stop you exchanging too much of your peso for something else? Is it because your citizens with at least an average IQ have no confidence in the fiscal policy of your political class and that rampant inflation must be a pain in the arse?

In answering your question, the UK is in a much better position. We have universal healthcare, world renowned Higher Education (which increasing numbers of South Americans {especially Brazilian scholarship holders} wish to access) and a financial center that is only equaled by NY.

Anyway these things are all a matter of perspective. What is not is that beautiful oil rig that will be on site in about ten days :-) Why are you unable to do anything about it?

Interesting ommission by Mercopress: it quotes all UK newspapers but The Times. last Saturday it claimed a “civilised solution” must be found tomthis conflict. The author, Simon Winchester established what the solution should be in exactly the same terms as Argentina and the UN: negotiation, dialogue, respect for islanders' interests and way of life and recognition of Argentine sovereignty. It may hurt but it is very sensible as it come to terms with reality, international law and justice. He may write for The Guardian too, so what? This last piece was published in Conservative The Times. It's no use crying over spilt milk
