'Hard to see President Obama shaking hands with Cuba’s Raul Castro on an electoral year'

This utter failure as a POTUS will do anything he can to get a second term.

However, he would probably get elected with a landslide if he personally shot the bastard.

ChrisR, explain how is Obama a utter failure. I mean he could be a failure from certain points of view. But a utter one?

On the Cuban debate, I think they should go. But an agreement should be made with USA, because they being pissed off won't do any good on the meeting.

It is never possible to prove a negative: please give me an example of a POSITIVE you think he has achieved.

    Just one will do.

That was a positive from the US multi-nationals only.

Some great research had been done in the UK by then, do you have another example please?

Nevertheless he favoured it, and the position of the president is always very influencial in this sort of things.

And no head of goverment can do something good without the help from people and the legislatives.

Em, he decided to put an end to troops in Irak, and he didn't let the US economy to worsen so much.

Can't agree I am afraid. As a Senator he rammed a bill through enforcing Freddie and Fanny Mac to loan money to people who patently could not afford to pay the repayments if any problems appered in their circumstnces. Blacks mainly (surprise that?). These ar ethe poor devils who lost everything when the collaterised schemes were seen for what they were - scams.

Since being POTUS he has spent more than any other President - on the Medicare for the poor scheme. Billions and billions of dollars now and in the future for the 'poor people'.

Does anybody pay for your medical insurance? No, I did not think so.

There are also serious technical issues with the sceme that were not thought out when congress bounced it into changes before they would approve it, they fought it every step of the way of course.

Not only that but the deficit has accelerated faster than was predicted and when he had a chance to limit the spend (POTUS has to sign the increase of the congressional budget limit) he bottled out.

    I rest my case.

It could have been a lot worse. Many economist were expecting the US economy to actually do worse. Quite worse.
Spending is not a problem as long as he spends it right.

The medical insurance here in Tierra del Fuego is free. We have a public institute which is compulsory, free and universal to all residents.
Besides, public hospital are free most of the times. The only you have to pay for is medicines, but only the cheap ones.

    Also healthcare is right IMO.

On the deficit, time will tell if he was right or wrong.
