We were very disappointed this morning to see the advert from the Argentine Presidential Office, attempting to politicise the Olympics in service of their territorial ambitions. This video was filmed without the knowledge of the Falkland Islands authorities. Read full article

Hon. Ian Hansen MLA - a well written and dignified piece that shows the Argentinian government up for what they are.

Sir, show them the true way a politician should act, with dignity and respect.

The Falklands for the Falkland Islanders forever.

This behaviour is clear breach of the Olympic Charter. If Argentina is so against the Falklands and so very anti-British it should not attend the Olympics.

This video features no Islanders, just as the video before also from the Argsoc Ministry of Truth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adl3dfiH6ug) shows no islanders of British Origin. Instead it shows islands completely vacated of anyone seemingly British, and replaced with Argentines. The advertising agency's clear messaging around ethnic cleansing is clear. I guess this is a part of what the spirit of the Olympics is for your average Argentine.

Give arg-peace and Ethnic Cleansing a chance? (answer: no)

Polite. Dignified. Diplomatic. Resolute. Clear. To the point.

Every time a member of the FIG makes a statement they maintain an impressively high standard.

How is it that 3000 people can find amongst their number more people with genuine skills of statesmanship and leadership than their neighbours appear to be able to find from a population of 40million?

Hon. Ian Hansen MLA - While I admire your dignified and polite response, I believe it is time you and your government start to look into severely curtailing, if not altogether eliminating the visits of argentines to the Falklands, as so many of these visits are used for propaganda to justify the subjugation and/or ethnic cleansing of you and your constituents. As for the remains of the argentine soldiers on the islands, I believe you should consider repatriating the remains regardless of the opinions of argentina's current regime.

Hon. Ian Hansen MLA, If this guy was working in the Falklands without a working visa, you should advise the UK Boreder [sic] agency and get him interviewed when he goes back to UK for the Olympics or Spain for his Job.

Visa fraud is a very serious issue, and this case clearly needs some of the rubber-glove treatment.

@2 Argentina is not anti-british. Argentina is only against the british occupation or argentine territories.
@3&5 Ethnic cleaning? Look how many british people live happy in Argentina (appart from islanders) and stop talking non-sense.
There are no british people on the spot, because it´s not the people what is in question. It´s about the occupied territory. People can leave or stay.

    @5

It might not look good for the FIG (and thus the UK) if they barred Argentinian citizens from entering the Falklands

About the ''ethnic cleansing” bit, as much as some Argentines try to say this isn't happening, i remember reading an article about Argentinian troops arriving on the Falklands expecting to find a Spanish speaking population welcoming them as liberators, rather than the English-speaking citizens treating them with deep animosity and suspicion.

    @8

Like it or not, as much as Malvinistas would like to sweep the population under the rug (or drop them out of airplanes), their opinions do matter, more so than most Argentinians warped sense of history. Not to mention that the 'occupated territory' theory only works if you take an EXTREMELY limited view from 1833 onwards.

Not Anti-British? I seem to recall CFK trying to get people to stop importing British goods? Or is that a 'conspiracy theory from the pirates'?

@7 Well if they want to play hard-ball they can bring in the advertising agency in with this. They have also engaged in visa fraud and should probably be hauled in for a chat, find out how much they were all paid and then get an idea of their taxable liabilities.

@10 'islas malvinas' by his name shows you how he's willing to tell lies to make a point. It's quite clear from their messaging that their plan would be to completely clear the falklands of any british in order to prevent the issue of self-determination that they hate so much in argentina, from ever raising it's ugly head again. The fact they intend for all the radio stations to speak spanish and do no end of Argentinian flag saluting, just outlines their fascist agenda.

Some liar saying otherwise is just nonsense.

@ The opinion of 1333 people does not matter. You don´t believe the UK will let a few people determine its foreign affairs and its relation with Argentina, do you? The UK stance in favour of the “self determination” rights of the isladers is only an excuse to maintain the ocupation.

    @12

1333? I suggest you update your figures from whatever site you're getting them from, it's more like 3000. The Falklands want an esablished working relationship with Argentina (as does the UK), it's only the pig-headedness of the Argentinian government that stops things going anywhere and you're a fool if you think otherwise.

I cannot but agree with Braedon @5. The rotting, decomposed, maggot-ridden “remains” should be dug up and sent back to argieland. Note that the “remains” were probably rotting, decomposed and maggot-ridden before they were buried. Actually, it might be an idea to adopt argie methods. Load them to suitable aircraft. Fly over argie airspace. Shove them off the rear ramp. Home at last!

Having disposed of the threat of biological contamination, you can recover the land! Then you can take a tip from Heathrow. Minimum period for immigration clearance for possible argies entering the Falkland Islands - 5 hours. Argies denied entry clearance to be subject to immediate removal. Toss them in the sea 5 miles offshore. Argies with entry clearance to wear a piece of paper printed with a target on the front and rear of their clothing. Removal of the target to be grounds for immediate removal as above. Maximum entry clearance period to be 1 hour. All argie “travellers” to be subject to public strip-search and manual internal examination. They like it up 'em!

Always remember to treat them as they would like to treat you. As untermenschen. Non-persons. Always remember that, within your territory, you are sovereign. Apart form ensuring “good governance”, Britain has no responsibility within your borders. Do whatever you like!

@15 I think the comment “The opinion of 1333 people does not matter.” sums up the fascho-peronist (pick and choose ideology) attitude towards people as a whole.

The dark messaging of this video is the important part. The town is quiet because it symbolises the irradication of the population. His celebration on the beach symbolises the celebration of the Argtard need to 'own' that lebensraum. It's just a horribly dark piece of work.

I guess that's why I'm glad I'm not an argtard, and have none of their DNA.

Got to agree with some posts here, the remains at Darwin need to be returned, yes it's a little unethical and preferably should be allowed to rest in peace.

However as long as Arg has this levering point you will always have this type of problem useing the war graves as an excuse to allow free travel. Then strict border regulations should be engaged and reason for entry required.
I know this might seem extreem, but you have to remember they are the enemy, they are trying to annex your country and will use any means capable to do so.

    KEEP THEM OUT!!

I'm relatively sure they have to give reasons for entry like 'work' (making an advert) and 'pleasure' (running a marathon) so, anyone who overtly and provably lies on their form should get the ban-hammer and suitable rubber-gloving at entry-points to friendly countries.

Ethnic cleansing is a purposeful policy designed by one ethnic or religious group to remove by violent and terror-inspiring means the civilian population of another ethnic or religious group from certain geographic areas.

Did I state “remove”? No I didn't, Argentines who live there peacefully should remain happily, however the rest of you should be banned.

In reply to 8 Islas Malvinas.
I quote an extract from you here “It´s about the occupied territory. People can leave or stay.” Amerindians the Mapuche, Toba, Huarpe, Pilaga, Selknam or Guarani etc, could have a word or two for your ears re your deep thoughts on this issue regarding occupied territory and should they feel safe in doing so? I for one would like you to share them with us. The Falkland Islanders are of course going to “stay”and people such as your good self would be well advised to “leave” them alone.
Thankfully not all Argentinian people (in fact a great many of them) do not share your somewhat one sided and blinkered views re the history of the Falklands etc, and so I hold out great hope for the future of your fair country. It will of course be a future that does not include ownership of the Falkland Islands, or the building of a shanty town....(you know the one where the poor people have to build one on top of another with no mains gas, electricity, water or sewage system) adjoining Port Stanley such as you have in Buenos Aires, or the imposition of a frankly vicious Police Force..
Please do let us know the views (I'm assuming that they are allowed to have them?) of the Amerindians in your part of South America!
The shanty town in your capital city ??? just go to you tube and search “Shanty town Buenos Aires” you will find that it was filmed by a fellow countryman of yours..One with a conscience and the ability to see and comment on the fate of his fellow creatures in your country...in case you can't be bothered here is the link..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn1BrOobG9w

    @28 Brainless Malv

National self-determination challenges the principle of territorial integrity (or sovereignty) of states as it is the will of the people that makes a state legitimate. This implies a people should be free to choose their own state and its territorial boundaries. According to the Helsinki Final Act of 1975, the “UN, ICJ and international law” experts, there is no contradiction between the principles of self-determination and territorial integrity, with 'the latter taking precedence.'

Only your silly and out dated 'Decolonisation commitee' claims it is still a colony, it has been proven time and time again the UN backs the FI right to self determination...

    Game over!

@34 Adding to Ken's point, in 2008 the UN refused to accept that territorial integrity was a precursor to Self-determination and instead stated that Self-determination is applicable to everyone, including the islanders.

Two countries in South America were named after this Great Man while he was still alive.

Were I you I would recheck those maps. There is no Argentina Sea or Argentine Sea or Argentinian Sea. There is a group of Islands in the South Atlantic called the Falkland Islands however. They are well outside Argentinian waters though, about 300 miles from the nearest bit of Argentina in fact, maybe a bit more.

    Hope this helps.

The Argentine sea is recognized in all languages:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_Sea

It has nothing to do with political sovereingty, just a geographical/geological designation to the waters that lie above the continental shelf. The Argentine continental shelf is particularly extensive off the coast. That means it is rather shallow water even hundreds of miles out.

And hate to break it to you, the Falklands are part of that shelf. Doesn't mean it makes the islands jurisdictionally argentine, but British posters denying scientific and geographical facts is quite amusing.

I love reading the comments on these pages. The very thought that one or two of the moronic, misguided, misinformed, not to mention mal-formed statements written by pro-Argentina/anti-British malvinistas is being read by someone somewhere with no views whatsoever, fills me with warmth. They can clearly see what some, but not all Argentineans really think.
We are not colonials. It is not a colony. We are British, though. This advert is quite plainly propaganda of the most insidious kind. It's good to see that the RG gov't knows what to spend the country's money on. I sincerely hope that Argentina end up getting kicked out of the Olympics - first the shirts, now this. What next? Ceremonial burning of the Union Flag in the Mall? Maybe baiting the Guards? Gobbing at the Queen?
I really hope that there is someone reading all the drivel/misinformation on here, and perhaps one day they meet up with the likes of “Islas Malvinas” and try to put him straight. The only way it is likely to be achieved is by punching it in, chaps.

Rather than Argentina boycotting the Olympics, as some oh here have suggested,
Perhaps it is the Olympics that should boycott CFK and her government.

The real danger is her athletes may well be indoctrinated into giving false and idiotic statements to the worlds press before and after events,
Can you imaging the press asking them question,

Hi-how are you enjoying the Olympics?
    Reply- viva Malvinas
Question, hey, that was a good run you did,
    Reply, the Falklands are Argentinean.

Question, its nice to see Argentina athletes in the UK for the Olympics,
    Reply
Viva Malvinas, , the British are holding them hostages.

Of course in the 1st Gulf War an independent state had been annexed.

In the 2nd, an independent state (Iraq) was cowardly and shamelessly invaded by the US, UK, Italy, and some others.

The first war was honorable, the second criminal which is why the world is seeking the arrest of Bush and Blair but alas, those countries don't respect international law, and only cite it when it is not their leaders flouting the laws.

    Net News May 4, 2012
    (updated)

Former Argentine President, Néstor Carlos Kirchner, craved cocaine and cars, farted uncontrollably due to his vegetarian diet and was injected with semen from young bulls to keep up with his sexually active wife, Cristina Fernández, according to a rarely seen and historic cache documents discovered at the Casa Rosada and set for public auction next week.

The documents include the original 47-page classified report of President Kirchner, craved cocaine and cars, farted uncontrollably due to his vegetarian diet and was injected with semen from young bulls to keep up with his sexually active wife, Cristina Fernández, according to a rarely seen and historic cache documents discovered at the Casa Rosada and set for public auction next week.
The documents include the original 47-page classified report of the former president’s health culled from post-mortem interviews with his six chief doctors and that include diaries of what he heard Kirchner said, such as, “Blair and Bush are monkeys.”

The classified doctor’s report includes several extensive details about his health. Panagopulos said it quotes Kirchner doctor Theodore Morrell confirming that Nestor and Cristina had sex though they slept in separate beds and that he was injected with semen from young bulls to spark his libido. Under the section “Sex Characteristics,” the classified report said:

Panagopulos said the report also notes that Nestor “suffered from uncontrollable flatulence” due to his veggie diet, something the Argentine leader took pills for.

The longer report from Giesing noted Nestor’s cocaine use to clear his sinuses and that the doctor had to cut the dosage because the father of the “Malvinas Solution” craved it because it made him happy.

“It is deeply sad to see Mr Zylberberg clambering over a war memorial, especially in this anniversary year. Sadly, this illustrates the disrespect the Argentine authorities have for our home and our people. Unsurprisingly, at no stage does the video feature any Falkland Islanders – a clear reflection of Argentina’s policy, which is to pretend that the people of the Falkland Islands do not exist. It is time the world took note – we do exist, and as with all people we have rights, which the Argentine Government is trying to deny us. We are our own people, who through nine generations have lived and worked in these islands for nearly 200 years.” Zylberberg is just a coward, he did it all for money.

My government didnt even respected our own veterans runing a marathon with their british counterparts, using them to cammouflage their real intentions and showing how “much respect” this government, the agency and this guy have for the people, that in both sides gave their lives in the 1982 conflict.
In a real country, several people would have to dismiss to their political positions or taken to court for less than this. But...Alas...this is Argentina.

    @22 Islas Malvinas
'Birds of a Feather Flock Together' Latin america countries that support you are no more correct than you are about the Falklands. They are ignorant of the facts and just being friendly to latin countries.

Many countries urging Britain to sit down to talk about the Falklands have little understanding of human rights and many realise that when they say 'talk' they know the 'Status Quo' will continue.
You see, Islas, the idea that majority knows best is virtually an oxymoron. Once people thought the world was flat, and that the world was made in 6 days.

The UN (C24) is there to remove remote governments from subdued island populations to ensure self determination. The Falklands are clearly not in that category and referendums show it.
All UN requests to sit down and talk are to quell the Argentine sabre rattling, it's nothing to do with you guys being right. Talk is better than fight.
And if we sat down and talked, where would you be? Nowhere of course since the populus don't want to know a country (government) that is primarily untrustworthy.

So, you are brainwashed because you have been told this lie, since 1941 by yet another dictator, that you have a valid claim to the Falklands, you are taught this in the class room, you are told this by your government and by your political parties and by several political writers and you ignore the true history of events.
Britain has infallible historical facts and Argentina chooses to be blind to them but you can find it all on-line and even through Google eBooks.

Belize is opting for referendums and the ICJ about joining Guatemala. Britain could loose it but things are done correctly. Watch what happens, see how to behave correctly. If Belize stays British then so be it. If it does not, then good luck to them.

The funny thing about this video is that not a single shot portrays anything that looks distinctly like 'Argentinian soil'. We have a stereotypical British pub, a British War Memorial, a standardised red British Telephone box, and a Town that could be almost anywhere in the British Isles by the looks of it. The Argentinian Olympic committe know full well that the olympics should not be utilised for any political gain, and both they and the President of Argentina should apologise as a result for the aim of this video, and for the shameful disrespect shown towards a British war memorial.

Respect Hague's comment that it was only a sad stunt, but probably still worthwhile to analyse the video stunt - its conception, production, participants and impacts. The video seems to emerge from the depths of the current CFK thinking - her government's paradigm for viewing and interpreting their approach to “solving” their Falklands crisis.

Might relate a bit a recent youtube interview of Aldo Rico (ex Argie soldier in Falklands invasion), who in spite of his over-the-top looniness about Falklands-Easter Island-Diego Garcia all being part of a secret US “strategic polygon” of global security, does make a point that the British are usefully exploiting the new idea that the Falklands should enjoy the right of self-determination (such as Hague noted) - and this right really does impede/conflict with the Argentine efforts to take the Falklands.

Anyway i respect hansen's opinion if he didn't like that spot, but he should understand that if the u. k and the islanders would accept to discuss about the sovereignty which is the main problem, all this situation would be absolutly different, and perhaps that spot would have never existed. But the worst of this situation is not hansen's partial anaysis, he is just doing what all politicians do, i mean he is telling what is convenient for him only. The worst of this situation is that maye many people buys his so partial analysis. Have you ever heard about “Shockvertising”

Well that is what WPP plc and R&Y have done, they were looking deliberately to make shock advertising style spot. And to do that you have to offend some audience by violating some norms, religion, social values, etc.

This type of campaigns are widely used in the world and in UK by govt. for example showing brutal car accidents, a little girl being cutting by a bottle of beer, etc.

“The man is a disgrace. no amount of coverage can justify the blatant disrespect that he showed towards those fallen”

Again you have no idea how the communication, media industry works, You can be shot saying I love my mum and then they edit it and you end saying Malvinas Argentinas.

From the point of view of communication industry the spot was excellent made, you like it or not.

The only responsible for the spot is the agency as you can read in www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-17963577 posted by “AndyMac”.

“The advert, shot by Fly Films, a company with previous experience in undercover filming”
“the piece was not commissioned by the government.”

If you like creating links in order to tell the whole world about the situation of the islands. You should tell too that neather the u. k nor the islanders are respecting the resolutions that call the two parts of the conflict to resume the negotiations and find a peaceful solution, however you just play the victime and dont recognize that your side is not acting correctly eather. The u. n has never asked he u. k to return the islands to arg., in the same way that it neather expressed that the sovereignty must be discussed only if the islanders wish it, nor applied the right to self determination for this cause, like it did for others colonial situations., beside, this dispute has always been considered like a particular colonial situation by the decolonization committe. If the islanders want to remain under british government, nobody can change that, but it doesn't mean that we can't find a fair solution for the sovereingty issue which is the main problem, however your side has always rejected to discuss about the sovereignty, tell the whole world about this too.
On the other hand, i dont deny that maybe my country didn't act correctly in some oportunities, but at the same time, if you reject the resolutions that call the two parts of the conflict to resume the negotiations, accept it or not, that's not acting correctly eather.
Regarding misiones and formosa, you forget to tell in your comment that formosa was won after the shameful war of the tripple alliance, i have always said that arg., uruguay and brasil should apologize the parguayans for that terrible war. Anyway, this case is absolutly different than the dispute for the islands, because after that war, paraguay has never claimed for that territory again. Respecting the malvinas-flakland cause, after the war, the u. n continued calling the two parts of the conflict to resume the negotiations, which is not being respected by your side. So, dont tell what is convenient for you only.

I intend no disrespect to you or the people of Argentina in saying this to you, please understand that my friend. The answer of the Falkland Islanders, The British Government and the British people to the Government of Argentina is an emphatic and resounding NO!! ..This answer is not a maybe or a not now but ask me again next week ! this word no is final! this is our final answer! it is not to be negotiated around to try and make a no mean maybe or perhap?s..we say No!!!
The Hydrocarbon deposits to be found in Falklands waters belong to the people of the Falklands of course but guess what? the obvious place to run it ashore is Argentina (the nearest friendly country?) this could be of tremendous benefit to the economy of your country and involving very little expenditure on your part.
Paraguay has never made a claim re Misiones and Formosa you say .. Are you in any way part of some kind of pressure group in Argentina ? pressing your Government into giving back these territories to Paraguay regardless of whether they ask for them or not! they not having very fond memories of your part in the triple alliance may be scared to ask!!
Peace to the people of the Falklands, Argentina and Great Britain !!

    TED. FAULCONBRIDGE. YNSERE.
It's not my intention eather to disrespect anyone, but there is something you must understand once and for all, i mean, intransigence never helps. What really annoys me are the so partial analysis that most you do all the time, and only play victime once and again, with out recognizing that your side is not acting correctly eather.
I have never denied that perhaps our country didn't act correctly in some oportunities, in fact i read that it didn't comply totally with some of the agreements that it had signed during the 90's with the u. k., i dont knwo if it's true or not, but in case that it's true, that's not acting correctly, and the the general assmbly from the islands has right to criticise it. However, beyond the answer that you usually give respecting the rejection in order to discuss about the sovereignty, if you would have unless one line f intellectual honesty, you should recognize that you are not acting correctly eather, anyway, if you inists with your intransigence, dont complain if we have more serious problems in the futture, because accept it or not, your rejection to the dialogue about the sovereignty has a huge responsability in this situation too.
Regarding the argument of our constitution which you love to use all the time, let me tell you that beyond what our constitution affirms about our claim, the u. n has never asked the u. k to return the islands to arg., so, although the two parts of the conflict resume the negotiations, the islands won't never be only under arg. sovereignty, because that's not what the u. n signalizes. On the other hand, c. f. k said in diferent forums that arg. is not asking the u. k to recognize that the islands are argentine, it only asks to resume the negotiations and find a peaceful solution. Finally, i want to express that i have always thought tha arg. should apologize the islanders for the war of 1982.

Reply to axel, I quote you here,

What you say here re your governments failure to comply with previous agreements reached with the U.K, in my view gives us all the right not only to be critical of those responsible, but the right to withhold our trust ..
Trust is something that you have to earn! Put your hand on your Heart and tell me axel ..if you were not an Argentinian and bearing in mind the actions of various Governments including the Junta of Argentina since say the 1930s ..would you place your trust and the welfare of your loved ones in their hands?
I ask you to think on this and answer me honestly!
    Ted.
You make no mention whatsoever of this question that I posed to you..“Paraguay has never made a claim re Misiones and Formosa you say .. Are you in any way part of some kind of pressure group in Argentina ? pressing your Government into giving back these territories to Paraguay regardless of whether they ask for them or not! they not having very fond memories of your part in the triple alliance may be scared to ask! ” why did you not address this question?
I am not familiar with your constitution and I have never made any comments regarding it, to do so would have been silly.

You of course can think of the word “No” as being rather intransigent if you so choose.
The “No” in this case is better described as an inexorable answer and means “not able to be moved by entreaty or persuasion” or I would add aggressive posturing, bullying, browbeating or warnings of more serious problems in the future etc.
The Falkland Islands and it's people are in a much improved state of readiness to deal with any “more serious problems in the future” as your Government is undoubtedly aware. Ted

I first posted core of comment below to “The plot behind the Argentine Olympics political spot”, but relates to this article as well:

Argentine-made, Falklands-sited mockumentary “Fuckland” (2000) also depended on subterfuge, lies and an insulting misogynist theme: that Argentina would get back Falklands by secretly impregnating enough Falklands women so that their children would be half Argentine.

When Islanders heard about Fuckland then - like recent Y&R spot now - they were rightfully angry at the deception of the movie producers but Fuckland and this Y&R spot both seem like metaphor on Argentine deception, about how low the Argentines could stoop and be applauded by their compatriots for their exploits.

Actively seeking transparent cooperation of Falkland Islanders in producing Island-made films that reflect a tough but honest working-through of issues would probably be most welcome - I think the 2005 anti-war Argentine film Blessed by Fire (Iluminado por el Fuego) was example of such an effort.

I think you failed to understand my point. Shock or no shock tactics, they disrespected a war memorial, and it has not attracted the type of publicity that they wanted. Now the Argentine government are known as the type of people who will disrespect fallen soldiers.

'Again you have no idea how the communication, media industry works, You can be shot saying I love my mum and then they edit it and you end saying Malvinas Argentinas.'

Yes so they filmed the man doing step ups, and then they doctored the file as to make it appear he was doing step ups on the war memorial.

Mate you seem to understand nothing of media, or international politics. People are not going to flock to support over an issue, if they are so disrespectful.

I think this edited version of the propaganda mirrors up the Argentines claim to the Falklands very well. They're both very funny and quite ludicrous ....rather like you as well i suppose.

    TED.
It's not necesary not to be argentine to answer your question. I am argentine but i have enough intellectual honesty, that's why my analysis are never partial. Let's sopose that arg. didn't comply totally with the agreements that it had signed with the u. k during the decade of the 90's, that's repudiable, and the general assembly from the islands has right to criticise it, however the u. k took unilateral decitions in different moments too, so, for being honest we must recognize, no matter if we are argentine or british, that both countries didn't act correctly in different oportunities, i won't blame only arg. or only the u. k, because i'm not neather injudicious nor ignorant, In the same way you must recognize too that neather the islanders nor the u. k have never accepted to discuss about the sovereignty after 1982, in fact they have always manifested that they can discuss about different issues with arg., but not the sovereignty, which is the main problem, so, your side is not acting correctly eather. Maybe you still can't learn to separate the actual context from the context of the dictatorship. Beside, i already told you what c. f. k expressed before the u. n and before others int. forums. Respecting the war of the tripple alliance, i just can tell you that in all my life, i'm 30 years old, i have never heard that paraguay claims for formosa and misiones, thats' why the comparison that you do is nonesense, we can't give them a territory which has never been claimed again for the paraguayans. It woudn't have any sense if they start to claim it now. But if you inist on comparing this case, with the dispute for the islands, let me remind you that the u. n has never asked the u. k to return the islands to arg., so, you can remain under british government if your people wishes it, but it doesn't mean that we can't find a peaceful and fair solution for the sovereignty issue, for both people.

    @175Axel,
Just because the Paraguayans haven't “YET” claimed their stolen land back, doesn't mean that they are not going to.
The question is, dear Axel, is Argentina going to return that land if they do claim it?
They, no doubt, want a peaceful and fair solution for the sovereignty issue.
    But, l digress.
The Falklands is a completely different case because Argentina has never owned them & has no valid claim here.
So Axel, we will continue to refuse to “negotiate” with you about sovereignty.

1-If you are concern about “moral”, respect, etc. Your British company WPP plc & Y&R should have refused to make the spot in the first place.

2- According with Gabriel Dreyfus, former owner of FSD the company that merged with Y&R, and former creative director of Y&R “nothing is made without the approval of its headquarter in US and UK. So the CEO in UK (Martin Sorrell) is lying.”

3- Again claiming that others “are extremely disrespectful” when you sell and buy T-shirts and make commercial spots for TV with the slogan “2 world wars 1 world cup” seem to be very silly and hypocrite from your part.

    ISOLDE.
I have been perfectly clear with my answer. I think if the paraguayans start to claim for formosa, it woudn't have any sense, because they have never claimed for it before, anyway, if tomorrow they decide to take the case to the u. n., and that institution start to call arg. and paraguay to dialogue and find a fair solution, we will have to do it, like us or not. Laws were made to be respected, they weren't made to distort their meanings just in order to avoid a negotiation.
On the other hand, this is evident that you insist with your partial information repecting the history of the islands, i had explained you about it before, and i won't do it again. Maybe the day that you decide to investigate deeply, you'll realise that you have been arguing just the half of the historic facts, anyway it's your choice.
Finally, i can tell you only that i respect if you insist with your intransigence, regarding the rejection to discuss about the sovereignty which is the main problem, but dont complain if our government continues taking hard decitions. Perhaps some day you can understand too the that intransigence of your side has a huge responsability in this situation too.

Axel, the whole point is that it is as absurd for Argentina to claim the Falklands on historical grounds as it would be for Paraguay to claim Formosa, or Rome to claim Europe. I wonder if you can grasp this? Perhaps it's even more absurd, because the accuracy of Argentina's historical claim is highly doubtful, to put it mildly. As for intransigence, in my opinion the supreme example is your country's including the annexation or invasion of a foreign territory in its constitution. I would respectfully suggest that Argentine change this if it wants to get anywhere, as well as not antagonizing the Falklanders and other nation suffering the misfortune of being your neighbours.

Argentina is a product of colonialism, conquered by the sword, most of the natives killed and infected by disease, their land taken from them and worked by imported African slaves, oversean by imported European colonials. The African's who made up 50% of the population would themselves completely disapear from Argentina between 1850-1900 in what could have been a chilling fore runner to the disareances of the Dirty War in the 1970's when an estimated 30,000 Argentines were raped, tortured and murdered, many more were held illegally in detention camps and tortured. The true figure for the dead could be as high as 100,000, no one knows because there is little official documentation and most bodies were dumped in the sea.

Argentina took land from its neighbours in numberous wars , civil wars and land grabs - Paraguay, Uraguay, Chile. Today Argentina despite the changed political landscape is still a nation characterised by uber nationalism. The claim to the Falklands was surendered in 1850 but reserected in 1941 by a fascist junta, which inc Peron, they thought their friends the Nazi were going to win the war, the Falklands looked easy picking.

In 1982 Argentina was under the latest succession of a series of fascism military junta's. Their hold on power was looking precarious, in deperation they sort a war, Chile looked like a good victim, they already claimed lots of land and were ignoring the international tribunals that had ruled in Chile's favor. But then they changed their mind and invaded the Falklands. Today the war is romanticized by a nation ruled by a kind of cross between a Neo-Nazi uber nationalist and a Charvesta Revolutionary uber Marxist. The only thing missing is the land reform. Maybe that's for later? But as few natives remain, maybe they'll just ignore their rights... God knows they always have. An entire culture replaced by a European one. Entire languages destroyed.

Timmerman should take time to read about his country's history.

“Laws were made to be respected”

Yes, but Argentina does not subscribe to this theory- or if it does, then at its own whim and only when it suits them. Witness the illegal expropriation of Repsol's interest in YPF (a clear breach of the non discrimination clause in the Argentina/Spain BIT as the Kirchner's friend's shares were not also taken) and also a certain invasion back in 1982 (in clear breach of the binding UN charter and binding security council resolutions).

I have never denied in none of my comments about the fact that maybe my country didn't act correctly in some oportunities, and i didn't deny eather it's rejection to resolution 502 by the criminal junta. Maybe it doesn't have any sense for paraguay to claim for a territory which has never been clamed for them, but if they decide to start to claim for formnosa, and present the case before the u. n, then like us or not, we will have to find a peaceful and negotiated solution, which is what you should do with the malvinas too, anyway i know you won't do it, you'll just continue making the idiot comparisons that you do every day, just to justify the british posture, on the other hand you accuse arg. of colonialist and at the same time, you deffend a country which has under it's administration 10 of the 16 colonial enclaves, and sends destructors to the malvinas, isn't it belligerant too?, unfortunatelly you dont realise about how pathetic you are, when you make those idiot comparisons, i insist dont get lost, but please study hard.

    @188Axel,
Axel, what is a destructor? And why would we want to send it to the malvinas, where ever THEY are?
Now if you mean, why did we send a “destroyer” to the Falklands, why the answer is simple.
We own the destroyer & we own the Falklands.
lts our business, Axel, not yours.
And certainly nothing to do with Argentina.
lts as silly as me asking you why did you send a train from BsAs to Rosario. Your train, your cities.
Anyway, its no secret why OUR destroyer is visiting OUR lslands.
To protect us from Argentina's colonialist plans.
The UN has “invited” us to “negotiate”. NOT ordered.
    We decline the “invitation”
ln 1982, the UN “ORDERED”(502) Argentina to withdraw from the Falklands.
    Argentina refused.
You want us to do what you wouldn't do! Unbelievable. C'est impossible.

If you think that our country might invade the islands again, that shows how far from the reality you are, anyway i'll give you some information. In 1982 the budget of deffence represented the 3% of the gdp, now it represents 0,9%. What our government made with the deffence was almost a desarme, and i agree absolutly with that, we dont need to miliatarise the country, because we are not neather under any invasion threat, nor invade others territories like some powerfull nations do. So, maybe the day that you decide to think, you can realise that you are wasting a lot of money sending those destroyers, if you think that arg. is going to invade again. Why dont you think that all that money might be used to boost the u. k from the crisis?. On the other hand, the resolutions were made to be respected, we are not asking you to give the islands back to us, we are just asking you to respect the resolutions that call the two parts of the conflict to resume the negotiations. But as usuall, as long as your country continues joining the security councill, it will keep on doing whatever it wants, distorting the the laws, and ignorant people like you, will continue believing the lies and the so partial information that politicians give all the time.
