You collected the fruits of 70 years of socialism, now you want to deny SA the same right? For 600 years somebody always had a great excuse as for why they should own our resources. We, as a continent, are done with that, want a trade bloc? Speak to Mercosur...

Lady, history has even got started on you. You will be known as the petty mad dictator who dragged Argentina back into the dark ages of dictatorship. You will be known as the erratic President who humiliated Argentina constantly on the international stage. You will be known as the President who stole YOUR people's pensions, destroyed YOUR countries economy and made a MOCKERY of YOUR countries laws and constitution.

You will be known as the 'Emelda Marcos' of Argentina - but perhaps with slightly fewer shoes.

    1) So you are wrong. Depending on which source there are 70 or 72 inhabited Danish islands. You had already named one, so that would leave another 71 or 69 .. not 70 you claimed. Don't they teach arithmetic in Argentinian schools .. or were you just too thick to keep up with the rest of the class?

    2) You clearly don't know any Danes.

    3) I have done the peaceful approach and have listened to racist warmongers like you bang on .. so if you don't like the prospect of the Argentine shithole getting nuked, you should perhaps look at your own language.

    1) I’m still right.....
There are 72 inhabited islands in Denmark. That’s a geographical fact.
You said NO to being from Zealand, that leaves us with 71 inhabited Islands.
But, as one of those remaining 71 Islands is “Amager”, that for all practical purposes has been integrated to Zealand and Copenhagen since the Middle Ages, it effectively leaves us with just 70 Islands.....

    2) Would you be so kind to point to any of my posts that can be interpreted as “Racist” or “Warmongering”?

    3) I “Think”you are just sore because you haughtily asseverated that it was “impossible” that I was a Scandinavian because of my pro Argentinean opinions, and I have proven you wrong in each and every opportunity.
I even spell better than you in, at least, two Scandinavian languages ;-)

If something is connected by bridges – and only by bridges – then it is an island and no amount of desperate Argie squirming can change that fact.

PS: .. and you can't spell in Danish, because anyone who can would know that it is “halvjyde”, not “halv Jyde”. So, since your written Swedish is even worse than your Danish, that leaves your linguistic claims in tatters and shamefully reliant on Google Translate :)

As for Guzz, you conveniently forget that you made the rather basic mistake earlier this morning and let Guzz address me with knowledge that only you had; thus proving that Guzz is just another of your many sock puppets and that you don't even have the wherewithal to keep track of which account you are logged into. That would (maybe) be under perfect circumstances, providing an equal amount of male and female are born, and the fact that they are force-breed (like the term? i dont...) with eachother in order to continue a healthy bloodline. #62 And I'm sorry for your nation Simon. The bright news: I think possibly that even with CFK's reckless governance and policy to antagonize foreign investors, Argentina will still experience strong economic growth on the basis of high prices for soy beans and other grains. The UE, WTO and other trade organizations will place some sanctions against Argentina, but China, as you well know, buys 75 percent of your soy production and will be there for whatever support you need. (Including the capital to develop the shale fields.) I just don't understand how you will be able to prop up your Peso for more than a year without a major devaluation. That will result in chaos.

In any case, Argentina has fallen behind more business-friendly countries such as Brazil, Chile and Peru. Sad, really sad.

I actually have read Krugman and have enjoyed, although not always agreed with, his articles.
There is one grave error in his comparison chart of Brazil and Argentina: The ”real GDP reported from Argentina is false. The IMF is working on more realistic economic numbers that will be released later this year. (Granted Argentina's recovery statistics since 2000 have been spectacular, but not as good as being reported, and you know it.)

I don't wish to ruin your Schadenfreude but................ most of the numbers have been already corrected by the IMF........

Herewith a link to the FMI’s 2012 :”World Economic outlook”

It is a PDF file, so if some of you are interested to know ANYTHING about what the biggest, conservative an liberal ecomomic forum in the world ”Thinks” about argentina , just type ”ARGENTINA” in the search window and press ”ENTER”

    PS:
The IMF staff is already using alternative measures of GDP growth for macroeconomic surveillance, including data produced by private analysts, which have shown significantly lower real GDP growth than the official data since 2008.
Nominal variables are deflated using the IMF staff’s estimate of average provincial inflation.

    Ok, I'll try.

Reading Krugman’s chart again and assuming the GDP adjusted for the inflation rate, my question to you THINK is which inflation rate is being used to correct that nominal rise in GDP? As you may admit, the Argentine government inflation statistics have been “questionable”, especially for what is really being reported on the ground in your country.*

If the real GDP figures have been adjusted using the official inflation figures then they are grossly overstating the economic growth. In fact, it’s entirely possible with the higher private estimations that there is no economic growth at all in Argentina. Even that the economy is shrinking. The gnomes in the IMF and World Bank still have not come to terms yet with the massive deception going on, which still is not as bad as what the Gringos did on Wall Street, but is reprehensible.

I ask you some very simple questions to reflect upon: Has the Argentinean government been playing with statistics? (Such as the price of a Mc Donalds Big Mac?) Has there been a restriction on private economists reporting independent inflation statistics about your country? What is the price you're paying for non-price subsidized goods compared to 12 months ago? I keep reading things like just two days ago, Télam reported ”Salaries had an average increase of 28.8% in March, compared to the same month in 2011. During the first quarter of this year they increased by 3.9% year-on-year, as reported the National Statistic Bureau INDEC.

So tell me please THINK, what do you estimate the real annual inflation rate for Argentina?

    With respect,

(*FYI: There’s another good reason why inflation figures might get a little fudged: Argentina has issued bonds where the interest payment is supposed to vary with inflation. A lower reported rate means less interest needs to be paid of course.)

Frightening, until you realize my sheep are quite ugly and my women are extremely vicious. I'll help build the fire if they'll make the foolish attempt...

You ask a lot of questions to a humble provinciano patagónico…..
I will try to answer them to the best of my primitive knowledge….:

Mr. Krugman has been spot on about Argentinean economy during the past many years.

He has repeatedly criticized the Argentinean authorities fiddling of the numbers and advised us to be “Nicer” and not so “Heterodox” the whole bloody time.

The above is enough, in my book, to respect and listen carefully to his opinions, despite him being a bloody Yankee Liberal….

    And…:

    1) Yes, the Argentinean government has been playing, fixing and fiddling with statistics……

    2) No, there are no restrictions on private economists reporting independent inflation statistics about Argentina.
What they have is a legal obligation to openly show and explain how they calculate their inflation statistics.

    3) I can’t tell you what I pay for things…. I live quite minimalistic…. But, objectively and subjectively one can not avoid seeing the BIG advances since 2003.

There is work…., there is money…., there is activity……

But, you surely know the Argentinean middle/high class...., they may have a little company, a couple of apartments, a couple of cars, a little summerhouse somewhere, three kids in a free university and they still complain that this Country is just trash and that they could live much better in Europe…
    Well…………...........................… They couldn’t…..

    4) My best estimate of last 12 months inflation would be around 20 ~ 25%. Is getting more expensive for foreigners, but normal workers seem to be keeping their living standard.

I do not always agree with Krugman or the NYT, but I read them.

Everyone is criticizing the Argentinean authorities for playing games with the numbers. A very dangerous game...

I read in the media that Argentine economists were being threatened not to report independent inflation statistics about Argentina, but I'll take your word.

From my visits to your country, “there is work…., there is money…., there is activity”…… Agreed.

But, you surely know the “Argentinean middle/high class.... ...and they still complain that this Country is just trash and that they could live much better in Europe…” HAVE YOU BEEN LISTENING IN ON MY CONVERSATIONS? ...Because they have...

“My best estimate of last 12 months inflation would be around 20 ~ 25%. Is getting more expensive for foreigners...” Yes THINK, they are crying, especially the Americans...

Rate sounds a bit low, but considering restrictions/subsidies on energy costs and certain food items. Otherwise it should be about 5-7% higher

Anyway, have a good evening. I'll expect no longship attacks tonight as we have an especially bright moon.

Very well, Argentina is making history today. There are successful stories about oil in the world, and there are others not so successful.

I will start with what was probably the first one in the history, Texas. Circa 1900 Texas was a rural society, producing mainly cattle, cotton and timber, then sometime in 1901 the Gladys City Oil company stroke oil in Spindletop Hill in Beaumont, in what was probably the largest oil field ever found at the time in the world, pretty soon hordes of businessmen, both american and foreign flocked to Texas and many oil fields were discovered creating the Texas oil boom, the oil industry impacted Texas economy, it brought other industries like metals, manufacturing, cars, aerospace, research laboratories of all kinds, thousands of oil companies were created, some became large oil empires others remain small or were absorbed by the big ones, but thousands of texan families became millionaries, the flood of oil money created the huge financial and investment corporations of Texas, by the end of the second war Texas was an industrialized state, in fifty years it had become an urban society with the most prosperous economy in the world, advanced technology, thriving universities like Texas A&M and the University of Houston among many others, that were financed by oil millionaries and companies.

Now take another story, Mexico, it nationalized some 17 companies, a complete industry developing in our own oil boom, in doing so, Mexico say no to foreign talented investors, foreign ingenuity and know-how. Pemex went to control all oil operations in the country, corruption became the culture of the company, negligence, waste, accidents, pollution, bad services and prepotence became all part of the image of the company while presidents appointed their compadres as directors and in top positions so that they could steal even more. That´s what happens when a state plays to be both a regulator and a business enterprise. It doesn´t work.

Very well, Argentina is making history today. There are successful stories about mineral resources in the world, and there are others nearly as successful.

I will start with one country I know extremely well……......, Norway:
Some 40 years ago its Socialdemocrat government took the decision of going “National” with their Oil Industry.
We all know where Norway is placed today…........... Don’t we?

Now I will continue with another Country I know extremely well..., Chile.
Some 40 years ago its Socialist government took the decision of going “National” with their Copper Industry.
We all know where Chile is placed today…............. Don’t we?

A third Country I know extremely well hasn’t been so successful but, as one of its sons is quoted to have said, it is mostly because it is so far from God and so close to the United States……………

Think overstates the success of our copper company in Chile, but we didn't plunder the profits either like Pemex. Today we have a mix of private mining companies and our publicly own Codelco. In the end, the question is will Argentina compensate Spain fairly or not.

Think: Congratulations regarding the European elections. Actually I was very pleased with Greece... ...and France was fed up so it was not a surprise. Every dog has his day.
