    This must be another of this modern trend of records in 'special' categories. Surely the record for the deepest submersible dive is around 11,000 metres. 7000 is a record for that particular vehicle but it's not a 'record'!

    The record holders (I'm not sure which was the deepest dive) would be Trieste in 1960 and Deepsea Challenger just recently in March 2012.
