Think could at least buy an Argie bond and use it to cover that hole in his shed.

Probably a posh word for the outside privy: at least the bond would come in useful!

No I don't find it “a little silly for a President of a Country” to adress the very real problem of food safety in his Country..... Not at all....

What I find “a little silly” is those so-called “Liberals” trying to twist and turn every single world the best President that Bolivia has had in History just to ridiculize him....

But, the only ridiculous in here is you my dear Shilean brother....

I once had a long conversation with an Argentine chap who was a great admirer of Morales. He held him up as an example CFKC should follow. Then followed a rant about CFKC's prolific spending on herself and how she wastes money living in luxury while her people live in poverty. Not Morales, he asserted. Take the recent Mercosur Summit (this was a couple of years ago), Morales and his team share rooms in a moderate hotel. CFKC has a room to herself and one for each of her team in a luxury five star hotel!!!! I had to laugh and remind him that she represents the country and he couldn't possibly be suggesting she bunks in with Timerman at the local bed and breakfast to save money? He eventually conceded that she probably couldn't but suggested she choose a four star hotel in future.

I was left with an image of the South Americans presidents ensconsed in the Park Hyatt, with the Bolivian detail pitched in tents in the garden.

Quite right. It is astonishing that a country’s leader can come out and talk such crap. Just because he may be the Best president Bolivia has had doesn’t mean we can’t poke fun at such ridiculous assertions.

Lighten up Think. I have plenty respect for Bolivians and Bolivia. No harm in laughing at Morales’ amusing gaffs. After all laughter keeps us young and stops us going bald – the perfect antidote to all the Coca-Cola us “Shilenos” drink.

That little Youtube video was just a remainder to you, my Shilean brothers Allende (presente) la cordillera, that “Corruption” and “Perception of Corruption” are two very different things....

You all seem to “Percieve” our current Presidenta as very corrupt.....
Wonder if any of you could find a similar video against her?
    Can you?

Firstly; my request was not about “Corruption in General” in both our Countries.........
My request was about both our current Presidents.

Secondly, I'm convinced, by personal experience, that Corruption (Real and/or Perceived) is much less common in Chile than in Argentina.

Thirdly, I'm also convinced, by personal experience, that the “Real Corrruption” in Argentina is much less than the “Percieved Corruption”....

Fourthly, as we all know, Transparency international ONLY meassures “Percieved Corruption”

    I quote:
“Corruption generally comprises illegal activities, which mainly come to light only through scandals, investigations or prosecutions. It is thus difficult to assess absolute levels of corruption in countries or territories on the basis of hard empirical data. Possible attempts to do so such as by comparing bribes reported, the number of prosecutions brought or court cases directly linked to corruption cannot be taken as definitive indicators of corruption levels. Rather they show how effective prosecutors, the courts or the media are in investigating and exposing corruption. One reliable method of compiling comparable country data is to capture perceptions of those in a position to offer assessments of public sector corruption in a given country.”

    Sooooo...
Any luck finding a comparable video about Cristina?

Think, I don’t understand why, but I have the suspicion that you are an unquestioning CFK supporter. You will dismiss any accusations against her as the dirty work of the oligarchs who would undermine her. There are lots of youtube videos on her and Nestor’s corruption, as there are hundreds of (Argie) Facebook pages on the subject too.

Don't get down to “turnip level” again.... please. I tired easily at my age.

    I said a “Comparable” video.

Where publicly known persons put forward real documentation and real police rapports and real court rulings against Piñera......

Not a video fabricated by some “Juan Perez” where he accuses Cristina of having stolen 50.000.000.000 of dollars and his pet chihuahua....

I'm asking for just one such video....
Just one that contains proven accusations against Cristina as verificable as the one I have posted about Tatán.....

    Is it so difficult?
    Apparently yes!

Thanks for not tyring innecesarily this old Argie.....
    You know what?
It took me less than 1 minute to find that video about Tatán.
    And you know why?
Because Tatán is not “Perceived Corruption” he is “Real Corruption”
    Much, much easier to prove....
    But please dont misunderstand me.....
I still “Think” that Chile is consideraly less corrupt a Country than Argentina.
The difference is just not so abyssal as many of you, brothers, like to “think” it is.

You don’t get to be one of the richest people in the world without pulling some dodgy deals. And he is no exception. I voted for Piñera and i have said here before that I have been disappointed with this gov’t (and the opposition), but I haven’t perceived corruption in his handling of the presidency. I was generally happy with Bachelet, but I wanted a change. I wanted someone to radically promote enterprise in Chile and declare war on bureaucracy. It hasn’t happened.

Back to your point, I agree that corruption is not as abysmally crippling as the index might make one believe, but that is partly because people adjust to their environment and learn to live with the corruption in the system.

Hey...I have seen a good program from a respected Argentine journalist who has a weekly show in Argentina. He exposes all the corruption in Argentina.
His name is Jorge Lanata and his show is Periodismo para todos (y todas). You can find all his programs on you tube, even in HD.

I hope he keeps digging thoug, he is good at it and fulfills an important function in a young democracy as ours.....
