Increasing tourist arrivals from the north is most certainly a sign the recovery is under way. A holiday to Chile is not exactly an essential item.

I can also corroborate that “Argentine influx must be considered in their special circumstances”. In just a couple of weeks from now my town will be overrun by Argies going crazy in the malls and supermarkets. In theory they come for the beach, but going by the transformation of supermarket car parks in to an ocean of (lovingly maintained) 1980s Argie-made Peugeots, they are surely stocking up for the year.

All welcome Argies, but try to keep the noise down. If you find some running shoes you like, don’t just shout “¡Gorda, mirá!...” to your wife who is 5 aisles away in the cake section. Walk down to the cake section and talk to her at a normal volume. There’s an Argie couple who have been using the internet cafe across the road from my office this week. He sits at one PC and she sits at the one next to him. If I open my front window I can hear their conversation...really.

After the recent Cruise Ship fiasco, the figures will probably getting be getting slightly better.
I'm looking for an exotic holiday location for her in doors, on our 30th anniversary in 16. From what I have read from Chilean contributors on here, I might have found just the place. Might even call at the Falkland Islands and pay my respects to the fallen.

    RCheck:
Chile is an amazing holiday destination. It has the right balance of good rule of law, good infrastructure, friendly locals and mind blowing scenery to make it an exotic, adventurous and enjoyable place to visit.

“in 16”?? I’m impressed if you are really planning 3 years ahead?

Yes condorito they do make a lot of noise, dont they like some of the trolls on this site. We get some of them here travelling through to Brazil. They insult the restaurant staff as if they were peones and as for leaving a tip - forget it. La soberbia portena. One of the waiters was on the point of hitting one of them so I went into the kitchen to calm her down. And I dont own a restaurant
