However, while it is good for wealthy Argies, the country will grow crops for fuel, because it is profitable. That means the old trap of exporting for profit, instead of feeding your poorer classes.

As to Argentina, the poor will suffer food shortages inevitably, if they are not already.
As Argentina gets more desperate, they'll not be able to resist the easy 'crops-to-cash scheme, to generate $$$ income. More and more food crops will go that way.
It is a world trend ( check latest Economist issue), and Argentina is poised to be a world leader in that practice.
