So 11 million people in Argentina a living well below the Poverty line! And that's assuming that INDEC have fudged the figures.

And the Malvinistas and La Campora trolls are always saying that the UK is finished?

wow. $4.89 is about £3.03 a day. That's less than half the minimum HOURLY wage here.

I guess that great economic model you have mustn't really be working out eh?

A whole decade squandered and nothing to show for it. I saw that people in Santa Fe Prov were protesting because their main hwy has so many pot holes and craters that it was dangerous to drive on it!

I am sure all the MILLIONS people living on U$5 day ( real exchange rate) love to see CFK's fortune raise 1500% WHILE IN OFFICE!

This is only going to get worse and worse just using 36% inflation for 2013 and the BCRA 20% ANNOUNCED DEVALUATION these 11M people will be living on U$3/day by this time next year BUT how many more will have joined them by then?

Massive layoffs are already starting to happen since the rampant inflation has made them unproductive. Even their fruits/Vegys and Fish are too expensive to export!

    Hang on a bit folks!

It wasn't that long ago that INDEC said it was entirely possible for someone to live on only SIX pesos a day for food!

    http://en.mercopress.com/2012/09/07/argentina-achieves-12-month-trade-surplus-target-in-august-with-10.04bn-dollars

So why is the latest figure so high, even if it includes rent, etc?

Could it be that INDEC are moving the figures around so that when inflation hits 40% they can still claim that everything is going swimmingly?

    Argentina
“Fortunately, the government possesses the power to engineer a dramatic turnaround.
Argentina is rich in human and natural resource. Moreover, it has nurtured human resources by implementing policies dedicated to social inclusion. It is the sixth most literate nation among the top 24 emerging markets in the world today. On the financial front, the nation sports a strong balance sheet. Debt is a scant 40% of GDP, well below the safe threshold of 60%. Similarly, Argentina has grown the economy by an average 7.7% per year since the 2001/02 crisis, while widening its social safety net”

I guess that is way better then 100% of the People living on 0$ a day back in 2001 when the IMF and WTO was still dictating to Argentina.
CFK you are doing a great job. Africa white leaders keep billions of black people living on 1$ a day, I guess this all depends on how much you know about the world and the people who patronize you.
Argentine's all over the world love and support CFK 100%. She is the best president Argentina had in 40 years. Mr English go boil us an egg.
Surviving on 7 dollars a day is way better then being killed by a bomb in a hospital in Libya or being executed with an automatic weapon at a kinder garden in USA, I am sure the 7 dollars a day is a great thing when compared to the rest of the world. Besides we get 7 dollars to keep what did UK gives us in exchange for Islas Malvinas Argentina? 0$........I just hope Argentina is using the money to build a nuclear defence program 100% made in Argentina to end once and for all the illegal British occupation of Islas Malvinas.

Marcos did you read all of that document because over 80% of it is slating Argentina for not meeting its obligations, stealing companies, having complaints filed against it at the ICSID not to mention the writer seems to be quoting the hilarious INDEC figures no respectable person believes. It's not even believed within Argentina, hence the red card threat by the IMF.

Argentina is rich in resources but it is yet to show it can capitalise on them with its unpredictable behavior and ignoring international law.

As opposed to the UK that is still working its way through the euro crisis and remaining stable and its still a top world economy vs Argentina's joke economy and inflation.

I know which one any sane person would choose.

This thread is just crawling with trolls. I think those poverty figures will increase because of the policies in place. A large portion of the population is unwilling to work because they relax with all the welfare they're being given. When they do work, they perform miserably and leave you in a position where you have to be more self reliant.

If Cristina really wanted to improve their situation, money would be invested in creating jobs and work training programs. Instead, she is paying people to vote for her, and cow towing to their most piggish self-indulgent tendencies to gain their approval.

What more pathetic are people that are willing to believe what someone has to say in exchange for cheap handouts. I guess some people have no dignity.

@14 “I just hope Argentina is using the money to build a nuclear defence program 100% made in Argentina”
LOL Argentina can't even build an aircraft engine. Those ridiculous training jets “made in Argentina” are merely assembled from imported parts. The underpowered engines bought off the shelf. Rolls Royce jet engines, entirely British designed and built power the biggest and best aircraft in the world.
Oh well, I suppose you could buy nukes from your new-found friends in North Korea or Iran. I understand they're making progress in this area and your politicians have been frantically liaising and co-operating. Good luck with that, but point one at us in a threatening manner and your stolen nation might very shortly thereafter cease to exist. Be careful what you wish for.

Maybe there are 2.7 million unemployed, so what? The unemployed in the UK have more cash per day than the average Argentine, and the don't have to put up with 25% inflation.

In Argentina, INDEC have admitted (and the way they fudge figures it could be higher), 11 million live on less than US$5 per day (using the correct exchange rate not the deliberately low false one imposed by the government).

    That's 25% of YOUR population.

Poor in the UK equals working to lower middle class in Argentina right now.

Thats a strong fantasy you're enjoying there....

Also can I recommend you look up the meaning of the word 'DECADENT' as you've used it incorrectly countless times now and its clear you do not understand its meaning.

    So here are some facts;

    1. The UK is the 6th largest economy in the world
    2. Argentina is the 26th economy of the world / In the top 5 countries for the worst inflation
    3. The UK is the 4th largest military spending nation in the world
    4. Argentina is the 49th largest military spending nation in the world. or in simpler terms the UK spends over 21 times as much

I can keep going but the more we compare the two countries, the more we can see the only country that is finished is Argentina.......

@7 You're repeating yourself. And getting boring! Still, we must approach this with a sense of equality and let the poor have a say. How do you afford a computer? Stole it, did you? Incidentally, have you got enough money to spend on anyone except your greedy, thieving self?
@12 That's the immigrants. We don't spend money on what will become dinner!
@13 Yeah. And the UK's economy is only about 5,000 times the size of yours!
@14 Boil an egg? No problem. I believe you have a couple hanging between your legs. Together with a sausage. Actually, we'll fry them for you if you want. You need to get back to argieland quickly, coward. Next month there will be an opportunity for argieland to try out its nuclear defence programme. Wouldn't want to miss it, would you? Unless you're a coward. Are you a coward? Surely you want to hobble round the streets of your homeland offering assistance. Except to the indigenous people, of course. Will you be cutting their throats? It's what you usually do!
@20 Here's some tips. The British armed forces are not what they were in '82. These days it's missiles all the way. Harpoons, Storm Shadows, Mavericks, Brimstones, Tomahawks, Tridents. Coming to a city near you. Good luck...NOT!
@25 Did you mean “go back to steal Argentinean ladies purses”? Could you tell us where to find an Argentinean “lady”. An Argentinean ladyboy is a different matter. Millions of those. Why are you suggesting that someone else takes over your daily occupation? Have you considered being a gravedigger? Think of the efficiency. Dig the grave. Jump in. Pull it in after you. How much better can it get?

    I'd say 10/1 is a conservative estimate.

Either CFK's government will do nothing and publish its own increasingly silly numbers and/or there will be a raft of new and increasingly draconian control measures that do nothing but make the situation worse.

    I'd say 12, 15 or even 20/1 by december 2013.

It may be even worse after the midterm elections, depending on the way they go. If CFK manages to get her own thugs in there's nothing to stop her destroying what's left of the constitution and becoming president-for-life “AFRICAN STYLE”. At that point we could see her go 'full mugabe'. At that point, expect 5o or 100 pesos to the dollar by year's end :)

Well these figures are from your beloved INDEC.

They're the ones saying that a quarter of the Argentine population are trying to survive on US$ 7 (actually US$ 5 taking into account the true exchange rate - not the deliberately low one imposed by the government) a day.

Not only that, but they have to live on this pittance while all the time the prices of food and fuel are increasing, due to Argentina's 25% inflation.

The questions you, and other Argentine citizens should be asking, nay demanding, from your government is what are they doing about it?

I mean, constantly bringing up the 'Malvina's' myth, and waving the Argentine flag, isn't creating jobs. It isn't improving the lives of the poor. It isn't allowing Argentina to develop.

CFK has got you all mired in the 19th century, with a fairy tale of how the evil 'British' did something 'bad' and now nearly 200 years later, you all still have a huge chip on your shoulders.

Argentina isn't moving forwards into the 21st century, you are sliding backwards towards the 19th century.
