Argentine central bank reserves at their lowest level since December 2007
Argentina’s central bank reported that at the end of January it had reserves totalling 42.65 billion dollars which is the lowest level since President Cristina Fernandez took office in December 2007. At the time the central bank international reserves totalled 46.2 billion dollars. Only in April 2007 were reserves at a lower level, 38.6bn dollars. Read full article

Argentina on Friday claimed that it could not just dip into its central bank reserves to pay, telling the court that upholding Judge Griesa’s order would “open the door to potential claims by holders of more than $43bn in principal and interest of both defaulted and restructured Argentine debt, an amount greater than the reserves”.
Argentina has $42.7bn in reserves but argued that it is “not an open till to pay plaintiffs and other claimants at the order of US courts”.
Argentina is facing other legal challenges, such as that by a group of Italian holdouts at the World Bank’s arbitration tribunal, ICSID, and fears a wave of copycat litigation if Elliott wins.
Exchange bondholders (EBH) told the court in a separate filing that Argentina only had about $19bn of reserves actually available, outstripping some $26.5bn owed to creditors and $23.6bn in likely claims if Judge Griesa’s order were upheld.

There is so many half competed buildings in the city of BsAs and will never be completed. In several months when Columbia takes over Argentina’s seat in the G20, the vortex will speed up to a dizzying pace. Perhaps the people will snap by then and storm the GREAT PICK HOUSE. The mid term elections will say a lot about which way Argentina will go. The way of Venezuela or Chile.
Yankee, Argentina has no reserves to speak off, only what the citizens possess. They had to save just to get that navy ship fixed and returned. Dumburger also does not seem to know that the US Federal Reserve is not the US Federal Government. Nor does he realize that the USA does not count private cash holdings as theirs, for US businesses alone has over 5 trillion in cash reserves…..Apple alone has over 75 billion in cash. And more importantly, the USA will not steal businesses for cash like the ARGIE model.

However the big difference is that when power does go out due to storms, crews from all over are working restorations. Argentina can give two flying fucks how long the juice is out for. We got ours back quick because we were next to a courthouse and them being on vacation for a month....needed to start taking bribes today so they needed the power back on.

Let's be clear Toby, the system functioned as intended. They think a piece of equipment from the half time show malfunctioned, the stadium's electrical system detected the anomaly and shut down the breakers and turned on the back up emergency electricity.
Thank goodness we have these Systems in the USA, unfortunately for the 100s of dead in the Cromagnon fire in BA and the recent fire in Brazil we don't have 100s dead during an extravagant show.
Everyone was safe, buying more drinks waiting for the light to come back on, nobody rioted, was raped, got killed, got mugged. Angry fans weren't rioting, tearing down barriers, injuring Police and each other. All was orderly and fixed within minutes.
It had nothing do with with the grid, nobody in town lost power,

And of course there's the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, full of plastic, rotting waste, and filth, and it washes up on the supposedly “wonderful” california beaches. There is even one beach there that is full of glass shard pollution and they made it a tourist attraction!!
Go around cities like Phoenix, Las Vegas, Miami and ENTIRE areas of the city are ABANDONED. the homes, the shops, everything. Even car dealerships and supermarkets, just abandoned. In Mendoza we can't open supermarkets and neighborhoods fast enough.
New York was voted the smelliest city on Earth, in Washington DC they don't have the budget to put some grass for the inaguration of their president, and in their biggest sporting event the power goes out for an hour.
Lets not forget that their levies and dams break with a stupid little flood, their bridges collapse (Minneapolis), and it took them over a MONTH to get power to gas stations in their most important city after an average hurricane in wind strength.

Yankee I just got back. What they are doing now is buying massive amount of items they can get and filling the empty shelves with the over stocked items to prevent them from being empty. I went up to Iguazu and they had built a new mall there from the last time I went up there. With all the tourists there (Brazilians, Americans and Brits, no one was in that mall the whole week I was there, it was amazing that they can afford tp stay open with no one buying anything.

Funny though, I see so many British tourist when I was there, unlike these trolls would have you believe. It was also interesting to see container upon container sitting and rusting in Puerto Madero and the grocery stores, rather than displaying bare shelves like in the past, they would over buy one product and fill the empty shelf with the over stocked product they could buy. You can go down one aisle and they entire aisle be olive oil! It looked crazy. The bank is out of green backs, it was proved when they could not pay to repair that naval vessel in South Africa.
