Gibraltar delegate to address ‘self-determination and sovereignty claims” at Falklands’ conference
The 43rd British Islands and Mediterranean Region Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association hosted by the Falkland Islands for the second time begins on Tuesday. Over forty delegates have travelled to the Islands for the Conference and Falklands Radio will be broadcasting some of the sessions. Read full article

It's also good to see the presence of similar small nations such as Cyprus and Malta also present at this conference. Seems like such nations certainly believe the Falkland Islands, along with their inhabitants, the Falkland Islanders!

Even some of the more independent Argentine media are starting to acknowledge the presence of the Falkland Islands Government. Clarin, probably Argentina's most serious Spanish speaking newspaper these days, has recorded an informative and positive interview with Falklands Legislative Councillors, Sawle and Cheek in London. The interview and the images posted by Clarin do not show Argentine Foreign Minister in a good light. Clarin did some interviews last year in the Falklands which were also very positive in their coverage of the islanders.

1) the majority of Scots are likely to vote to stay in the Union
2) if the same question were asked in England it would be very close as to whether the English would vote for them to leave
In other words Scotland is more keen on the Union than England.
This should explain to you the dynamics of the modern United Kingdom. We have absolutely no interest in keeping people in the Union against their will. If certain people wish to use the power of self-determination to either stay in or leave the Union, they are welcome to that power.
It is something Argentina doesn't understand.
I repeat the observation made previously. If 19th century colonialism is so abhorrent. If anyone who has settled somewhere since 1833 is a usurper, prior to any discussions, and form of legal debate, Argentina MUST withdraw from Patagonia, must fully fund the setting up of a Patagonian government led by indigenous Amerinians, and fully rebate the mineral wealth stolen from them.
Then and only then can Falklands discussions begin, to which our position will still be that they were never Argentinian.
Let me know when the withdrawal process is complete.
Oh noes the mighty argentinan fleet is coming to steal the falklands well it will when they either refloat it and refurbish it or the nice pawnbrokers let them get it out off hock.

And an SAS squad on standby. You should then be safe enough going out to buy a packet of cigarettes. Always remember the FCO advice for people travelling to argieland. If an argie looks at you for more than 3 seconds; shoot! And don't be reluctant to call in an air strike. There isn't anything in argieland more important than you getting a stone in your shoe! Don't be intimidated. Do the right thing. Shoot!

Actually, from Islas de los Estados to the nearest part of the Falklands it's about 210 mi. But what does that matter, the Islands will never be Argentine (unless the Islanders decide as much).

Whilst in Argentina I came across very friendly and courteous people, and have to admit enjoyed my stay, the trolls on here are not a fair reflection of the Argentine nation as a whole. Most ARG trolls on here have not had a decent education or rather they have been indoctrinated from an early age.
