“We have never changed our position towards the Pope. We thought we had to take part in something that is a great honour to Argentineans and a great thrill for those of US who are believers,” Timerman pointed out.

So Timerman is now saying he's now a Christian and a Catholic. No wonder he was so eager to stab Israel in the back.

Gollum reminds me of the Vicar of Bray sir - something the trolls on here will have to look up, but with which the Falklanders and Brits are well aquainted.

Pope Belgrano is a force for backwardness, its absolutely right he should be an Argentine.

I met Timmerman a few years ago and he made my skin crawl. He is also plainly stupid and very arrogant.

Not heard Mr Pope make any public announcements on the Falklands yet, despite being asked to do so by his president. Her time is running out and her patience is wearing thin, she won't wait long for him to say something. More comedy to come.

Shan't be loosing any sleep over this story; more Timmerman garbage, and showing up the Argentine regime for what it is - a slimy, double-faced, corrupt and not to be trusted bunch! Let's leave the Argentines to their own in-fighting - they are exceptionally good at it.

What are they scared of I wonder? Is it the spilling of many beans about the truth of how f**ked up Argentina is by a man who now leads millions of catholics and had many 'run ins' with the present RG Government, could be interesting, or there again, no surprises and not at all interesting.

Not pals because of any religious affiliation, no doubt just cosying up to popery to see what they can get out of it. #1 on agenda, get grubby little Rg mitts on those mythical Malvinas (and all that oil and gas of course) at last.

Oh Nostrils your new favourite toy is the HDI of Argentina.

Firstly, its built on Argentina's false statistics. Do we wish to discuss those? Dent think so.

Secondly try and look at what happens to Argentina on the Inequality Adjusted HDI. Do we wanna discuss Argentineans inequality? Yeah didn't think so either.

Nice to see how high the 'Anglo' countries rate - especially mine in BOTH! You are the gift that keeps on giving.

PS: Why won't you reply to me on the other thread? You put so much effort into your initial post:

    Foolish child,

    Those were simple questions

Ask your parents and/or grandparents about the 70s and 80s and then post their reply.

BTW the Austral to Peso conversion was 10,000/1 you're far from that for awhile but not if CFK keeps printing. It only took them 6 years to ruin the Austral.
Maybe they'll come out with a Super Austral next.

Oh my child, I do know that the weakest form of argument is to discredit the opponent “statistics”.

My child, Argentina was in the same location in HDI even before any “number” debate could be lodged. Are you know saying the numbers have been falsified for 40 years?

Its clear some on the right are trying to make Francis to Latin America what John Paul II was to Eastern Europe; the difference of course is that while the Soviet bloc was authoritarian and falling behind, the Latin AMerican left is democraticly elected and surging forward, and it will take more than a Pope, god willing, to change that...

Hahaha! Latam democracy = doshing out wholesale bribes to poor voters to get votes, that's not democracy that's bribery. Latams wouldn't know democracy if it hit them round the face like a wet kipper.

As for surging forward, 30% inflation, price controls, fast depreciating peso, crime ridden streets, international pariah, cut off by IMF, aircraft and ships in danger of being impounded abroad, sounds like surging forward like Thelma and Louise actually. The abyss is waiting....

@11 You need to search for my explanation of your “illness”. It may help you to understand, temporarily, why your state is not a “nation”. Notably, your state is not part of “humanity”. There are differences between “you” and humanity. As an example, you should examine the pictures in this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goblin Do you recognise yourself? But it is important to differentiate between the description and images and “gobbling”. An activity popular with many male argies with their male friends.
@14 At last! You will, of course, be taking up arms to ensure that those who “refuse and will refuse for eternity to adopt your personal or national values and philosophies” are left in peace without interference. And that you have enough guts to ensure that “others live as they so wish.” There is such a thing as tacit approval. If you don't fight against a dictator, because “it doesn't matter to you”, then you approve the dictator. Much like the Germans and Hitler. “We didn't agree with that”. Okay, but what did you DO? Nothing. Guilty.
@18 Do you think the phrase “my child” gives you some sort of credibility? I think we can agree that you are a “credible” prick. “Incredibly” prickish. Or possibly a fart. How long do others remain in the same enclosed space with you? 30 seconds? 10 seconds. Do they upchuck when they see you?
@22 If you see moving from one state to another as “progress”, you are no doubt right. Much like moving from “stable” water to “steam”. Insubstantial and largely useless. Until put to use by intelligence. Sadly lacking in argieland. And the SNP. Do you think it would be useful to be able to spell “democratically”? How about thousands of pages of evidence from Alex demonstrating why Scotland won't be a basket case? Not that we English care. Argieland starves to death. Scotland starves to death. Who cares? Not us. On the one hand, we lose an incompetent enemy. On the other, we “lose” an incompetent. It's just “win-win”.

    Out of Mamma's reported U$20MM
    Nah
Probably a nice wire from Daddy's stolen U$380MM from Santa Cruz

Stolen $ is usually fleeting in Banana Republics you're only rich as long as you are in power.

#3 “I met Timmerman a few years ago and he made my skin crawl.”

Btw I met an Argie in Britain once who knew him when he was young and said he was a very nice man; one reason I would like to see him stand for President if Cristina doesn't =)

#24 What Think at #27 said. But, if she has any Euros at all, she should probably convert them into a more stable currency, like Argie pesos, given what's happening in Cyprus...

#26 How many times do I have to say I don't support the SNP. I am in favour of the same side in the Scottish referendum as the Falklands one - voting No =)

Hearing Messianic voices again are we ? Do we have a direct line to Queen Victoria telling you to go forth and reclaim the ENGLISH empire again with your English army, Navy and Air force. Are you sure that you are not in the pay of Alec Salmond to raise the YES vote. If you are the typical English man then God help the rest of your country. You won't have a friend anywhere - not even Canada, Oz or NZ.

Timerman denies any Argentine government plot to discredit election of Francis

    Liar liar, pants on fire,

For the fact that he will refuse to indorse CFK and her inglorious empire building,
The CFK government will revert back to its old ways and try to embarrass the pope or ruin him,

Why not , she does to everybody else that disagrees with her,
And the pope is no different in her eyes,

    You either agree with her,
Or she refuses to even acknowledges that you exist..
    Who ?

Calling tinman a man of integrity is a joke in the largest order. Whomever wrote that report doesn't like kretina.....lol. It sounds like the line of complaints I hear from my Argentine friends. Perhaps the writer is Argentine. When you buy something there, you get charged the sales tax, but few give you a register receipt so they do not have to report the sale and pocket the tax collected. If you ask for a receipt, they get all bent out of shape.

Moments later there was a lethal mud-slide in Argentina killing 14 people... but then they realized it was CFKs makeup running and Now TImmerman is blaming it on a foul British plot to undermine her.

    Just to be clear:
    a) there is nothing anti-semitic about comparing this catholic to shylock.
    b) You cannot feasibly call something bigotry if you don't know perfectly if indulgences are or aren't currently on sale. For pretty much the entire life of the catholic polytheistic church, they have been selling indulgences so without a reason for them to stop selling them, why would they stop?
