The death toll from the heavy rains and flash floods that have pounded Buenos Aires City and La Plata, capital of the Buenos Aires province have climbed to at least 54, and could increase, Argentine authorities said on Wednesday. Read full article
This is what happens when you spend all day screaming about some Islands off the coast and other countries' problems, instead of fixing their own problems/addressing their crumbling infrastructure. Deserve it they do.
According to the Argentine press , the first thing the good residents of La Plata did was to set up picket lines to complain about a lack of flood prevention measures ( thus preventing the rescue services from getting to the affected areas ) and then to loot supermarkets .
The president has deliberately avoided liasing with City and Provincial authorities in order to claim any credit for humanitarian efforts for herself .
Tubalcain , I am not gloating . Why don't YOU fly out from your safe European home and go and help ? Flights are about EU400 and availability is good .
Argentines are their own worst enemies , and their refusal to self criticise and learn from past mistakes is legendary .
Buenos Aires floods all the time , but la Pres thinks it more important to give people bread and circuses in the shape of free football coverage and handouts than to do something about it .
Disgusting pieces of shit gloating about people's deaths and showing the world their true colors. Pathetic losers.”
Not as bad as being a modern-day coloniser though, seeking o throw people out of their own country by force of arms (failed) and now by nationalistic PR bullshit.
how can you possibly be surprised at a lack of sympathy when you have never shown any.
you reap what you sow.
of course, not a single person has done what you claim, but then creating myth is another of your favourite pastimes...again you reap what you sow.
#6 Think. One standard for Rgs and another for Brits eh? Rsole. From where we are sitting its quite clear who the losers are and its definitely not the Brits or the Falkland Islanders. $7 aday? 30% inflation, sinking Peso, crime out of control. Folk wont leave their hovels because they fear looters. Grilles on every window, rubbish everywhere, chaotic railways, crumbling roads, and thats just for a start. What sort of glasses have you got?
@10 Faz,
And that's the life they're offering the Falklands.
Thanks, Argentina, but no thanks.
Yeah Tubalcain, if you care that much, why don't you help them?
Quite true Anbar, you reap what you sow.
@6
Drowning in your attic would be a terrible way to go and Yes we feel sorry for ordinary Argentinians all the time. But as the years pass we also note that these same ordinary Argentinians keep voting for people who are unlikely to worry about infrastructure.
Also, recently one of your fellow RG posters on here wished for a tsunami to wash all the Falkland Islanders away. I guess this isn't what they had in mind.
I told Toby a long while ago Argentina won't be able to deal with this climate change. Their sewers are collapsing, they've allowed substantial building with no infrastructure improvements. This was a bad storm made into a disaster because of an apathetic population and a corrupt gov't.
They had a supposed decade of good times what is there to show for it?
Nada
Now they are in or just about to go into depression.
These storms are going to get worse and the people will suffer while
the Pols move to Miami to spend their loot.
The story repeats its self over and over again
Well I am sorry people have died but don't come with your begging bowl Argentina you don't deserve a penny from the international community. Elect people who really care about you not some fascist nutcase who's only mission in life is to get a fat bank balance on the back of the people.
Ah Yankeeboy its Toby again is it? The one that claims to live in that shithole Mendoza but is actually a schoolteacher in Western Canada. I wouldnt want that little twerp anywhere near my kids!
15. It would make sense that he doesn't know Argentina very well. Where did he say he was a teacher in Canada? I must have missed it.
I think my first clue on the lies was that he said there were no slums in Mendoza and anyone with 1/2 an eye and who has actually been there knows that was a fib.
From today's Herald :
La Plata mayor in trouble after controversial tweet
La Plata mayor Pablo Bruera saw himself in the middle of a scandal after tweeting that he had been assisting families affected by the storm when he was in fact outside of the country and only landed in Argentina on Wednesday morning.
“Visiting the refugee centres since last night,” he tweeted, along with a photograph in which he could be seen carrying a water bottle in an evacuation centre. In the photo, however, readers noted that there was sunlight coming in through the window.
Eventually it was discovered that the government official had not been there last night, since he only arrived in Argentina at 9:25 am this morning in a flight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
“Due to an error in one of my tweets by my communications team, I must clarify that I only got here this morning,” he tweeted, and clarified that he had been helping the storm victims “at all times.”
“Of course I will take all necessary measures to make sure that we respect the veracity of the information,” he concluded.
My cousin moved back to Cordoba a few weeks before this happened. Though many others weren't so lucky.
I'm really concerned about the fact that despite the disgusting incompetence that Crustina is showing, she will still have support from idiots that don't deserve a breath of oxygen. Anyone that votes the this government after this deserves to be shot.
Why doesn't she have her lazy La Campora goons help these people? Because she doesn't care and there are no spoils.
@19 because La Campora brown shirts don't help people, they just hurt people. You're expecting them to have a sense of altruism that they simply don't have.
La Campora just took over Arg satellite business so they'll have another company to siphon money off of.
There was an article recently saying that all the cash they've poured into Aerolinas is enough to buy American Airlines. Funny, I don't remember them getting a new fleet.
@21 well, last time I read something close to $2.9billion for new planes of which they bought 1 new plane. No doubt they'll now get $4billion for new satellites of which they'll get 1/2 of a new satellite.
Now that's what I call value for La Campora money.
I'm guessing whatever the water didn't take or ruin the looters will get. There are 1000s maybe 10's of 1000s of people who will never recover from this self inflicted gov't disaster.
@25 Silently, and again surrounded by a guard of La Campora, [she] arrived at 18.15 at Mitre neighborhood in Saavedra, opposite the shopping Dot to know the status of neighbors.... The young militants made her a security cordon to the square of the center of the neighborhood, where Berni had ridden the day before a tent with prison staff.
Apparently she has a Hitler-style La Campora protection squad. How very Nazi of her.
26. The Ks were terrified of the Military and have basically wiped it out of existence. You may recall the Rg Military has a nasty habit of taking back the country from Dictators.
That is why she created her own army with her son in charge.
Nasty Banana Republics.
@27
You may recall the Rg Military has a nasty habit of taking back the country from Dictators
The Last military junta was funded by the US and UK and killed 30 000 Argentinians. You must be a huge idiot if you think anybody would risk handing his country to western puppets.
28. I think you you'll find a lot of Rgs looking on the last Military Dictatorship time period with some fondness. Wasn't that the last time everyone was safe and the economy was pretty stable.
I think so...
@21 Definitely we care about being robbed, unfortunately it's almost impossible to weed all the corrupts out. People just say C'est la vie and move on. People here don't like revolutions, we don't like violence unlike the gangsters in government, so there won't be any Argentinian spring until things get far, far worse than they are now.
The Last military junta was funded by the US and UK and killed 30 000 Argentinians.
offs OF COURSE it would have to be somebody else fault other than Argentina and actual Argentines.

what a piece of utter unadulterated SHYTE
play another record fgs - this one is worn out and wasted and after spending years telling the rest of the world to F-oFF dont start crying when they have no sympathy for you whatsoever.
You are a total idiot Tubalcain, indoctrinated to the hilt and without the common sense to actually take the blinkers off and look around you & see the real world.
The Junta were Argentine, made up of Argentinians who killed other Argentinians because they could.
# 28 Nazi troll, trained by Goebells no doubt. He can certainly make them up....lol! And.... All Rg blokes are pussies versed in the art of seduction by Oscar Wilde. The SA Indian tribes were wiped out, except for any half good looking women who were raped by the Spaniards and Italian colonialists. Hence Indian blood in some Rgs. The Andes were formed by British bulldozers when the British invaders were stealing Rg gold.
All just about as credible as this trolls posts (except for the wholesale genocide and rape of the Indians which is quite true) .
An estimated 600.000 people in the area have no power, drinking water or working phone lines...... hasnt this been the case for months in B.A???
Its a shame for those who it effects, and im sure the peronist reich will turn this into political rally against THE FALKLANDS,
with venezeula blessed with a miracle of a chavez vision in the shape of a singing bird(LOL) , what does south american religious folk make of argentinas biblical flood hitting argentinas capital, or do they only accept positive convenient signs for political gain.
#35 didn't you know, all that water came from around the Falklands. It's all those boiling tea kettles formed huge clouds which then discharged a flood on BA.
In many times I try to understand your point of view in the Falklands, but reading your comments, making jokes of tragedy, it is very wrong. Now it doesn't matter politics. Hate simply doesn't get anywhere.
The Prez of Uruguay didn't realize his mic was on and was overheard saying the OLD WOMEN (CFK) is worse than the ONE EYE ( Nestor with the googly eye)
bahahahahaa
Looks like a major disaster. Saw some stories on the Beeb (BBC) , half the city inundated. Problem might be city infrastructure but lets face it, the downpour is humongous. Just look at the flooding we've had and just in the last 2 weeks, 16 foot snow drifts. It's a natural disaster. Good look to the honest argentine.
28
Why you dimwit Argies always blame others for your own incompetence.
,,,,,,,
your be telling us the popes british next, because he wont support you.lol.
looking at all that water in the streets of B.A reminds me of that novelty map of south america where argentina has been replaced with a sea,
could argentina be the new atlantis being sucked down by chavez in hell???
oh and sympathy to all those who have drowned, blame chavez.....its his will!!!
Just like New Orleans and New York then. Just like huge swathes of England that were needlessly flooded this year - and indeed most years for the last few decades - because saving money was deemed more important than maintaining flood defences.
But as ever, the truly sick vultures, like the nauseating Conqueror and his many twisted sockpuppets, just see it as an excuse to gloat.
Where is THINK in all of this amazing there has not been a comment fro him/her. Feel sad for those that lost their lives in that flood but have to say I doubt that those same people would have had the same feeling for us in a similar situation because according to them we do not exist anyway.
But as ever, the truly sick vultures, like the nauseating Skåre-Vuggevise the twisted sockpuppets, just see it as an excuse to gloat whilst pretending to be superior and intelligent.
fixed tha' for ya Vice.

Where is THINK in all of this amazing there has not been a comment fro him/her.
having time-off, that why we've got the delightful company of Tubalcain and Vice.
46. This was rain w/very little wind both NYC and Katrina were basically Cat 5 hurricanes! A very different type of storm with HUGE amounts of wind. I was in it! Plus this is inland not on a coast. It makes a huge difference.
This is poor gov't plain and simple.
They've had very serious flooding in BA for YEARS and recently about every 6 weeks. AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT
And now you see what I gloated everytime a natural disaster affected the UK, USA, and Europe. Because I knew the moment something happened in Argentina (this is the first major natural disaster in the last decade), all your fake outrage about me being such an indecent and wicked person for celebrating the harm bellafen others (because you yourselves would NEVER do that if it were to happen in Argentina), was a big fat LIE. :)
I knew everyone here as demonstrated in the first 20 responses by the foreigners would be celebrating. Since I already knew that was the type of people and characters you are, even when constantly averring not to be, I felt free to reciprocate.
Oh well, yes, I have no problem with you people being happy of people dying. We are your enemies after all. But then please, spare me the shameful theater when disaster comes calling home (and it will hit you in Europe and the USA much more often than us), and I thank mother nature that all of you and your children suffer, and suffer PLENTY.
Can't wait for that next heatwave to kill some 50,000 French, Brits, Spanish, Germans, Italians, etc... like 2003 (talk about pathetic lack of development when simple heat kills you). And of course can't wait for the next Katrina to drown a few thousand yanks. Or the big one plus Tsunami on their pacific coast.
@57 Quite so , but not your ordinary sort of river, I'm not sure where the wind was from when they got that rain but if combined with a sudoeste (sp) and spring tides a devasting storm surge would have been produced. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%ADo_de_la_Plata
Should I remind you about some of the sickening comments you have posted about natural disasters in Australia.
You are no better than the people you castigate. If anything you are worse because you use other people's behaviour to justify your own..... sort of how pack rapes go I guess. You don't start it but are quite happy jumping in to get your rocks off when the rest of the crowd gives you a nod.
I will await your apology in vain I am sure for I have never taken glee in the suffering of Argentineans in these situations, only the ones they have made for themselves.
Your parents must be so proud that the person they raised so lacks a moral backbone and conviction that he can't wait for that next heatwave to kill some 50,000 innocent people all because some trolls on the internet decided it was their right to belittle or make fun of the thousands of people affected by these floods.
By the way, are these floods natural or the result of government decisions? Will anyone every know? I know we have enquiries into any natural disaster here in a bid to prevent a future occurence.
I'm sure you have made light and fun of that too now haven't you..... something about the repeatative nature of natural disasters in my country.
I will troll for you my son because you are indeed pathetic.
I have made it clear I have become racist towards all Europeans, and that I wish them harm and ruin.
I don't justify my behavior, I own it. And when I celebrated the disasters in your country and in Europe, and in the USA, and the mass shootings... lets just say it was a War of preemption, against a potential enemy, something you anglos can culturally appreciate to bomb others and kill children to prevent a hypothetical conflict. :)
the argentine hate in many of these post is truly appalling.
Personally, I wouldn't like no one to die anywhere to to any type of man-made or natural disaster.
They never fooled me. That's why they hate me in particular, they NEVER were able to fool me in anything. So I just did my own thing and they cry like babies because I always defeat them.
Anglolatino
That means nothing.
I think you are pathetic and ineffectual as well. Indeed you are juvenile and lack social skills. And I can assure you I do feel sorry for you.
So hate along, you are pathetic already.
That said, I don't agree with conqueror that your sort should be removed from the genepool.
Sorry I think you have lost the conversation. Maybe the voices in your head are interfering with reality again?
Ask CFK for some lithium
She told me it works great!
@63 Nostrils
Can't wait to see a link to an example of where I cried like a baby because you defeated me. What do I keep telling about your ability to argue?
@65 Stevie
Anglolatino
Still can't get my name right..... doesn't bode well for you so far.
That means nothing.
And yet you read it and replied so it must have meant something.
I think you are pathetic and ineffectual as well. Indeed you are juvenile and lack social skills.
It always warms my heart when I finally wear someone down enough that their only response is an outright attack. I'm glad I provided you with a list of nouns in post 64.
You obviously don't think I am that ineffectual after I have bested you on so many different occasions and the icing is that I've lead you so many times to expose your true colours by your own words. Guys like you just can't help yourself. You exist to trip yourself up. You do half my job on here.
And I can assure you I do feel sorry for you.
Well I can assure you, that you elicit little emotion in me other than glee.
So hate along, you are pathetic already.
See there you go again showing you lack even the most basic of comprehension skills. I don't hate. Hate destroys your soul. I find it impossible to hate you. Hate is such a strong emotion and as I have stated, you elicit very little emotional response from me. Just intellectual superiority. And glee.
As you have shown time after time, there is only one thing that is pathetic between you and me and it is your abilities....all of them, from intellectual to reasoning to cognitive.
I guarantee you'll lose interest in replying to me as guys like you argue purely to be a contrarian and that doesn't sustain you in the long run.
Convictions do. My convictions so outweigh yours that we ain't even in the same league Stevieboy!
The very fact that you need to set yourself on a pedestal is the best indication of your intellectual superiority.
The day I feel the need to compare myself to you, I'll surely let you know ;)
You see Anglolatino, I'll never lose (*) interest in replying to you. What you see as besting me is for me a constant source to the cheapest of laughters.
Today i went to one of the many donation centers in Buenos Aires with my children. We donated a quilt and two blankets plus rice and pastas. They asked me where i was from and i told them Londres. Two of the people shook my hand and thanked me warmly. Today my kids learned that helping people in need is a good thing. As we left i felt very moved that we were able to help others in need in the midst of a crises. As for most of the people who have posted above ,how will you be feeling about yourselves and what you have written. I would hope deeply ashamed but i doubt it.
Well you still have football for everyone.
Lots of dead people from poorly maintained trains, flooding, poisoned rivers, open sewage in the city streets, no cancer or HIV meds
but they have free football on tv
What a horrible place
How can these people be so stupid?
@85 How can these people be so stupid? I wish I knew... I understand the poor are uneducated, but this doesn't explain why the middle classes are almost as stupid.
If the Argentinian government hat spent some of the money they spend on free coverage of football matches (estimated at $1 billion since 2009) on flood measures maybe most of this latest tragedy could have been avoided !
Thre are no commercial breaks during live football matches shown on state TV in Argentina just government propaganda!
With at little budget investigating it seems most of the $ that was supposed to be used to control flooding in La Plata was diverted to Techopolis.
Bahahaha
idiots

You are a total idiot Tubalcain, indoctrinated to the hilt and without the common sense to actually take the blinkers off and look around you & see the real world.
The Junta were Argentine, made up of Argentinians who killed other Argentinians because they could.
end of story.

#35 didn't you know, all that water came from around the Falklands. It's all those boiling tea kettles formed huge clouds which then discharged a flood on BA.

Problem might be city infrastructure but lets face it, the downpour is humongous. Just look at the flooding we've had and just in the last 2 weeks, 16 foot snow drifts. It's a natural disaster. Good look to the honest argentine.

Apr 05th, 2013 - 01:11 am - Link - Report abuse 0And now you see what I gloated everytime a natural disaster affected the UK, USA, and Europe.
Will be fun tv.
@57 Quite so , but not your ordinary sort of river, I'm not sure where the wind was from when they got that rain but if combined with a sudoeste (sp) and spring tides a devasting storm surge would have been produced.

Apr 05th, 2013 - 02:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0Should I remind you about some of the sickening comments you have posted about natural disasters in Australia.
I will troll for you my son because you are indeed pathetic.
you are indeed pathetic
Apr 05th, 2013 - 02:27 am - Link - Report abuse 0You made my day. From you that is high praise.

Apr 05th, 2013 - 03:49 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The day I feel the need to compare myself to you, I'll surely let you know ;)
You see Anglolatino, I'll never lose (*) interest in replying to you.

Apr 07th, 2013 - 04:32 pm - Link - Report abuse 0If the Argentinian government hat spent some of the money they spend on free coverage of football matches (estimated at $1 billion since 2009) on flood measures maybe most of this latest tragedy could have been avoided !
