The British Ecology Society has named the winners of its annual photography competition.

Falkland Islands Zoe Davies was the overall winner for the British Ecology Society annual photography competition.

Her shot of the black-browed albatrosses greeting each other on the Falkland Islands was a decisive shot.

The photograph was taken on the cliff tops of Saunders Island in the Falkland Islands, where she was working with a range of organisations to develop their protected area strategy.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the society founded to encourage ecological research

At the moment I shuttle between Sheffield and Canterbury on a weekly basis, as my partner is still based at the University of Sheffield. We own a lovely house up there, with a garden and large veggie patch, about 5 minute away from the Peak District National Park…….

I visited the Falkland Islands last November on a research scoping mission (ahem, playing with penguins and albatross) does that count?

-Describe your favourite pair of shoes…
Hmmm, I have quite a few pairs of shoes and love them all. I have a real weak spot for strappy things with high stiletto heels.
