Argentine Cabinet Chief Juan Manuel Abal Medina guaranteed there will be no political or institutional crisis due to President Cristina Fernández health condition and underlined that ‘the president’s team is solid and working with no difficulty”, following her instructions.
Reacting to a barrage of opposition criticism of Vice-president and now acting president of Argentina Amado Boudou, Abal Medina defended the president’s “team” in charge of ruling Argentina while Cristina Fernandez recovers from surgery to extract a subdural haematoma.
“President Cristina Fernandez makes the decisions because power has been vested on her and working on her instructions the president’s team is governing without any difficulty. It is a very solid team. Government policies will be executed by her work team led by the vice-president (Amado Boudou)” insisted Abal Medina.
The cabinet chief also denied the existence of an ‘inner circle’ made up of the Executive Legal and Technical Secretary Carlos Zanini, Maximo Kirchner and the Intelligence chief Hector Iscazuriaga that allegedly are effectively running government.
“All of us are simply the president’s advisors in the different subjects and we are a work-team headed by Vice-president Boudou”, said Abal Medina insisting power rests in Cristina Fernandez.
Finally the cabinet chief said the team was very happy and encouraged because medical reports show head of state Cristina Fernández is “recovering favourably” and faster than expected.
“We are very happy with the results (of the surgery); it went out perfect” Abal Medina told reporters.
