Uruguay signs Tax Information Exchange Agreement with the UK

United Kingdom and Uruguay have signed in London a Tax Information Exchange Agreement, TIEA. The Agreement will come into effect as soon as each government has completed the necessary procedures to give effect to it under its domestic laws. Read full article

As Uruguay has already signed a TIE with Argentina, does this mean that UK will now have access to the tax returns of the KKK bandits tax returns in Uruguay?

The TIEA that Uruguay has with Argentina only kicked in with effect from 7 February 2013.

This agreement now means that Uruguay has agreements with one more juristiction than Gibraltar does. I wonder why no-one significant has been screaming that Uruguay is a tax haven?

Rufus Yes we were denounced at a recent G20 meeting as a tax haven by none other than our nieghbour Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner

I can find no mention by her of the Seychelles as a tax haven. But of course that where she has some of her loot buried, so she wouldnt,would she?

I can only speak for myself but hopefully I will be able to offset the tax I pay in Uruguay against the tax I pay in the UK.

As usual you miss the point of these things: not only is it designed to catch tax evaders it also helps tax payers to pay only ONE tax!

Can't come soon enough.
