    Argentina is having an spectacular performance in economic terms despite Clarin Miente, el campo and La Destruccion of Mitre.

    Economy growth is driven by little and medium size industrial sector, Technology and service companies.

    I will really expect that the govt can shut down Clarin MIente and La Destrucción. That will help a lot because they produce more harm to the economy than 3 financial crisis all together.

    Another think that will help a lot would be to reduce holidays in to increase productivity Argentina has a lot of days lost by long weekends, etc.

    Working hard, saving and investing is the formula for success.
    My dad told me that since I was a child and he was always right.

    @golfcronie

    About what developed world are you talking about mate?

    Because if you have ever been in the so called “developed world” you would realised that most of the statistics are fake. Like the Unemployment figures, inflation, etc. in US and Britain to cite a couple of example.

    @GeoffWard2
    “4% expansion of 'sod all'
    is still 'sod all'!”

    I guess you are talking about Britain, right?

    No hope, no employment, no economy, no military power, no carriers, no good services, no future and no way to pay the huuuuuuge debt.

    I guess that the above provides a quite good definition of “sod all” what do you think?

    Back into the real world, Argentina is performing wonderful despite envious criticism from former citizens from countries that are falling like stone into water and have to move to countries like Brazil to enjoy a decent standard of living. Ha ha

    GeoffW Argentina in much better in a recession than UK having 20% growth and always will be like this.

    What can we do?

    Hey Dany, are the Cartoneros increasing or decreasing? Is the Peso rising or sinking? Are the Villas shrinking or expanding? Forget the 4%, thats just government popaganda.

    My house is 10% more valuable than it was a few months ago. And that increase is about the same as six times the average RG salary. And, I am just an average guy in the UK.

    Jaguar Land Rover are just about to set up a new factory in Brazil as well as the one they are opening in China. We dont open businesses in unfriendly unstable countries like Argentina. Argentina is just a place to go for a cheap holiday and a source of cheap wine blueberries and corned beef, its no more than that to us.

    This data is of no use in determining just what is going on.

    Percentages on their own mean nothing: what is the underlying monetary value? We don't know but then I don't think anybody does.

    No, Dany, perhaps you don't understand what I am saying.
    If you start with a really big amount, a % increase is significant;

    If your national economy has nose-dived to sod-all, a 4% increase can make no observable difference to the wage-packet of the man-in-the-street.

    @Welsh Wizard

    In US marginal attached figures that in U6 from BLS get magically lost. In UK unemployment figures bad taken by using “claimant count” and ICP methodology used, etc.

    “One problem with the claimant count is that it misses out many people who are interested in finding work and who might have searched for work in the recent period - but they don't meet all of the criteria for claiming and therefore are not included in the monthly unemployment count.”

    Well not much to explain as this has been in UK and US for long time debated.

    No need to prove the inaccuracy of statistics in some countries like Spain, Italy, Greece, Portugal, etc, also including creative data into their statistics that have been exposed to the public since long time ago.

    If you want more technical information don’t be so lazy and make your own research.

    @yankeeboy

    I don’t now of what are you talking about but rioting with growth have noting to do.

    @Faz

    “And, I am just an average guy in the UK.”

    So you are another poor pommy surviving renting rooms of your house while still cashing JSA checks?

    Come on boy don’t lie to me I was several times in UK and even when you say to be fab you still looked pretty poor with just few exceptions better known as Sirs and Lords.

    “Jaguar Land Rover are just about to set up a new factory...
    We dont open businesses in unfriendly unstable countries like Argentina”

    What do you mean by “We”? Are you from India now idiot?

    Jaguar Land Rover is a property of TATA motors from India.

    And the Chairman of the company is Irish (Cyrus P. Mistry) and the CEO German (Dr Ralf Dieter Speth) because not even the Indians trust you to run properly a business because you seem to be quite incompetent.

    So, do you have more crap to share with us?

    @GeoffWard2

    4% over U$s 500bn ARG GDP is U$s20bn
    1.3% over fake 2.441T UK GDP is 31.t bn

    Where do you think growth will impact more?

    No much to say I guess

    One problem with the claimant count is that it misses out many people who are interested in finding work and who might have searched for work in the recent period - but they don't meet all of the criteria for claiming and therefore are not included in the monthly unemployment count.

    And thisa is the main problem people who are “interested” in finding work and “and who might have searched for work”. Two variables which you can't measure properly and so the stats are done on things you can measure unlike Argentina where one finance iminister does a shit, asks the others in the cabinet to rate it on form, structure and length and the average of all the scores is then applied as a percentage number of future growth

Last time I was cycling down to Ushuaia and the police gave me an escort just outside Mendoza because they reckoned the locals would pinch all my kit and my bike. Phew, what a country. I have been all over the world and neer seen anything like that. The Villa Miserias have to be seen to be believed, the Argies have got a massive problem to re establish international trust but with the present government they seem determined to shoot themselves in the foot by losing international confidence. It’s Inflation driven growth most of it. INDEC usually ads a 1 or 2% on whatever the real expansion is, the rest is inflation and emission. Colombia is clearly the 3 largest Economy of LATAM if the parallel dollar is considered in the equivalent in the Argentine economy.
    What Argentina is going through now is a long period of “Estanflación” (INFLATION + STAGNATION).

    Mercantilism is what brought Europe (Italy, France, Germany, England), prosperity and out of their dark ages, and into the Rennaissance, Age of Discovery, and the Enlightenment. It is what brought prosperity to colonial North America. It is what made Argentina rich after 1850.

    NONE OF IT WAS CAPITALISM. No stock trades, no put calls, no derivatives, no insider trades, no shorting, no futures speculation, no splicing of loans, none of that.

    SINCE the utilization of all the above tools, your countries are more and more unstable, unequal, indebted, and now poorer.

    @30 Sorry to disappoint you. Here in the UK, my standard of living isn't worse. I have my fully paid-for house valued at over £340,000. I have my 2002-registered BMW 5-series, reckoned to be the best vehicle BMW ever made. All my bills are paid. I can drive down to the supermarkets and buy whatever I want. I have around £35,000 in the bank. Earning more money. Probably another £30,000 to come. Then there's the shares. I have my pension every month. I have 3 computers in current operation on an LAN. I have possibly the biggest television you have ever seen. Plus more televisions in 2 bedrooms. I employ a gardener. Does that sound like my standard of living is worse? Of course not. It's just what you'd like to think. But how about you? Still living off mummy and daddy, are you? Got a job? I mean a real job. Not your Campora “sideline”. Do you just do internet crap or do you get out with your mask and lump of wood and beat people up as well? Does it make you feel “good”?

    In general and to be fair, our next generation may be the first in decades to achieve a lower standard of living than their parents. However, considering the very high standard of living enjoyed by so many and the sense of entitlement amongst school-aged children, it might not be such a bad thing.

    I guess I have to downgrade my expectation of the anaemic growth of UK. BTW what kind of growth is increase of property price? Are these guys joking? Are the same house that cost more due to inflation or lack of offer an rise for demand what also rise inflation. So after a deflator for UK economy G may be the result will be negative.

    @CabezaDura

    Argentina economy is far, far much bigger than Colombia economy.

    In fact Venezuela’s economy is bigger than Colombia economy.

    In GDP measurement inflation is not counted so you have to use a deflators or constant price. Currently for Argentina is used “base 1991 constant price” to calculate GDP.

    In nominal GDP using a USD as the reference currency also you can get distortions as the currency can be over valued or undervalued like was the case of China.

    Such a mess Britain once a commercial and military power and now with living standards like in the poor 3er world.

    Agree with the above, Colombia is indeed the third largest Latin American economy behind Brazil and Mexico.

    While Argentina has slipped to third in South America, I think that Venezuela is slowly slipping behind Chile to become 6th.

    Dany, If small-mid sized companies are now doing well, why oh why has the real estate market continued to fail? Why are there shops closing all over the cities/provinces? Why are exports down? Why is the peso crashing? These are not signs of a good economy.

    Do you see this?

    I think you are too stupid to understand that what you believe is undercut by facts. I guess you are really an Rg,

    Sorry Dany

    But Mexico's economy is not larger than Canada's.
    Peru is definitely not bigger than Chile.

    Oh and Argentina is no longer 5th.

    Easy to see how confused you could get though. I've never seen anyone swallow propaganda as easily as you.

    @yankeeboy
    Again little and medium size industrial and service companies are doing quite well and driving economic growth.
    About the real estate sector the information that I have is just from my own experience and friend working in the sector doing consultancy service to banks, investor, etc.
    The market in CABA (main city of Buenos Aires) was driven since long time ago buy speculation where some bough apartments inflated paying hilarious prices waiting to get huge profit selling it later especially to foreigners or the new rich from the soy boom. Now the market is saturate and none is willing to pay that prices.
    I also have storefront for rent outside CABA and I always have them rented or hired and in fact I get more $$ than having apartments in expensive area of CABA.
    As Manhattan does not reflect the whole picture of US CABA (Buenos Aires main city) does not reflect the reality of Argentina. Where I have my stores rented construction is booming every day you can see new building finish.
    So your reality from Clarin Miente, La Dectrucción tanking from 4 real estate operators that buy adds from them is just that like the samples of inflation they got from Las Cañitas y Palermo.
    Tings are always much more complex.

    @ Anglotino
    The economy of Perú is bigger than Chile in terms of real output (Produce more good, services, etc) eliminating the distortion of currency exchange value (What matters like inflation).
    Mexico the same is far bigger than Canada.
    Then you have countries like Canada, Australia, etc with an over valued currency that boost artificially GDP but what only grows is the value of the currency. That is not growth as the economy produces the same until get anaemic.
    And Argentina is still the 5th economy in the Americas, the 2nd largest economy in SA and the 22 bigger economy in the world and rising.

    To have just an idea, what produce Chile as GDP nominal in USD is less that the GDP of Buenos Aires.
    No much to say I guess...

    Aaah Dany. You're talking about PPP!

    Thank you for that.

    While currency fluctuations distort nominal GDP it is unfortunate for you that inflation distorts GDP PPP.

    And guess who has sky high inflation....

    Argentina AND Venezuela.

    And who lies blatantly about it?

    Tsk tsk.... Argentina.

    10 peso to the US Dollar = smaller GDP than Colombia.
    25% inflation = smaller GDP than Colombia.

    It's alright Dany, Argentina is supposedly happy with this situation. That's what you keep saying. Nostrils too. Also Think. And half a dozen other Argentineans.

    They're extremely happy with their continued economic irrelevance and decline.

    And Colombia, with the Americas 5th largest population now has the 5th largest economy.

    Oops, guess you chose the wrong country. I'll think of you when I move to Colombia next year. PMSL.

    Dany, You are a liar plain and simple. I have friends in Argentina and they are terrified of what is happening. Terrified.
    If your business is going well good for you
    There aren't many of them as evidenced by the simply awful stats that anyone produces other and INDEC.
    Unless you're in Govt you are poorer now than you were last year
    It will get even worse next year

    Oh Dany I am extremely happy in Australia enjoying a standard of living that few countries do. And that I know you definitely don't.

    Spring started 21st September, a month ago.

    Here in Mendoza we expect 29 to 32 °C during the next week - and Argentine economy is doing great, I just got AR$ 9.55 for 1 US$.

    “WINTER! WINTER!” - tsk! tsk!

    Really? about what standard of living are you talking about?

    Last time I remember that you have declared to be unemployed and classified as poor in Australia because you where again studding or Stunning (No sure yet) and living in those bunk beds with 1 bedroom and 20 tenants almost from China.

    “I'm sure I'll be just as happy when I move to South America's second largest economy next year.”

    “Argentine economic activity grew 4% in August from the same month last year, the government said on Friday”

    As you are part of the joke you might not get it.

    But the rest of the world is pissing itself laughing.
