Consortium led by Total to invest 1.2bn offshore Tierra del Fuego for natural gas

France's Total will lead a 1.2 billion dollars project to produce natural gas off the coast of Tierra del Fuego in the extreme south Argentina. In partnership with Wintershall AG and Pan American Energy LLC, they will drill as deep as 5.5 kilometers in the Vega Pleyade field, according to Javier Rielo who heads the project.     Nice to see BP in there with a significant investment,

    but they will have to avoid being nationalised or taken over by Argentina and the state-owned YPF if they strike it rich.

    ... The British, the French, the USA and the Chinese - everybody, but everybody, is trying to stop Argentina going tits-up.

    I hope they appreciate the help that the world's big businesses are giving them, and do not get upset about multinational company profits going out of the country.
