Maximo Kirchner, the eldest son of Argentine President Cristina Fernandez said his mother's medical condition was 'improving' from the cranium surgery to drain a blood clot to which she saw submitted at the beginning of the month, but did not advance any date as to when the head of state will return to her job.

The president's son in a rare exchange with the media made the revelation after casting his vote on Sunday in Rio Gallegos where he travelled from Buenos Aires together with his sister Florencia.

Surprisingly, Maximo, 38, was willing to reply some of the media questions, since he is rather shy of the press and prefers to play a low key role, even when he figures as the head of the youth movement La Campora, that enjoys several high exposure jobs in his mother's administration and has several elected members in Congress.

“She's better, improving”, said Maximo in reference to her mother, but added ”I'm not a doctor, I don't know when she's returning (to the job)“.

When asked if he was going into politics, Maximo said ”I'm not into futurology“. And regarding the third anniversary of his father, Nestor Kirchner, decease, he preferred not to reply and merely said that ”people do it much better with their messages in the social networks. Messages and e-mails make us feel better“.

Cabinet chief Juan Manuel Abal Median also referred to the Argentine president health condition saying that she remains under strict rest, no-stress recovery in the official residence at Olivos, and did not vote on Sunday. However ”she occasionally talks with some of her personal advisors including on the evolution of the mid-term elections”.

Strict month long convalescence conditions impeded her from travelling to Santa Cruz to vote, (she is banned from flying), but most of her team of close advisors did travel to Patagonia to vote, but for the first time without Cristina Fernandez.

Vice-president and acting president Amado Boudou admitted not having had any contact at all with Cristina Fernandez since surgery but “she is evolving in a satisfactory condition” and the medical reports “bring relief”.

“We knew we had a great president, now the doctors are telling us we have a great patient because she keeps strictly to their instructions and recommendations”, said Boudou.

“We respect her convalescence period, the medical reports and recommendations. We are anxious waiting for her return with all her force, drive and talent to her office”, said Buenos Aires province Governor Daniel Scioli.

Maximo’s appearance and short conversation with the sugar-free journalist out of the blue on election day was well calculated and programed. No coincidence whatsoever.
