Chilean president-elect Bachelet blasts Venezuelan repression and Maduro
Following the bloody events of last Wednesday, while countries such as Argentina, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua expressed their full support for the Venezuelan government of President Nicolas Maduro, others were more cautious such as Washington and the Europe Union calling for restraint and dialogue, but Chilean president-elect Michelle Bachelet openly twitted her rejection to repression, to President Maduro and called for a plebiscite. I still don't know whether the fact that the twitter account used as the basis for this report ( the one YOU provided ) doesn't now exist, means that the story is neccessarily false.
It seems pretty crude to me, as far as disinformation goes, to produce a story that can so easily be disproved. More like something that might appear in an election for Mayor of Back-of-Beyond rather than an attempt to destabilise Venezuela. You see my point?
Regarding the rest of your post: what are you suggesting? Do you mean “disinformation machine” in the general Orwellian sense or something more specific? A retired Chilean army officer? A cashiered DINA agent? The Dark Side? The C.I.A.?

You do appreciate, I am sure, that the subtlety's of both Chilean political and other culture are unknown to me. Had something similar happened in my own backyard the false notes most likely would have been apparent to me straight away.
And whilst it certainly makes MercoPress look, at best, amateurish, it wasn't THEIR lie was it? And, for all you know an 'Anglo Turnip', with a greater familiarity with the Chilean landscape than I might well have figured out that this story had no substance without any prompting from you.

The government and its oppositions should peacefully work out their differences. Venezuelan's authorities are unable to control and manage properly such cross fire chaos from the economic stand point to the social point.

In addition currency devaluation and the reduction of the national currency reserves to 25 Billion US would never happens, adding to it continue food and medication scarcities are all indicators of public miss management and Venezuelans cannot benefit from it much worse feel joy, considering that their country is the 5th Oil producer on earth.
Where is the money allocated? Political affiliation is not the answer, but correctly taking care of social issues to its people is the proper answer.
Incorrectly the Government thinks by imprisonment mainly students and journalist and opposition leaders really will stop their claims when indeed it is inflaming higher the existing fire.

Cuba has a long history of intervention in other country's affairs. Angola, Nicaragua, Grenada, Ethiopia...did I miss any? Apart from Angola perhaps, where they stayed for a long time, if memory serves, they have never been so entrenched.
In '83 the U.S. intervened in Grenada. That is not going to happen this time. I wish there a neighbour with both the power and the moral authority to resist Venezuela's Cuban and Chavista fueled descent into dystopia, but there are no white knights on the horizon. If a civil war does eventuate I imagine Columbia might provide some assistance, but for the time being things look very bleak for most Venezuelans. I sympathise.

It turned out that my friend, whom I'd known as Mick, a recovering heroin addict, was in fact a Federal Court Judge. This is the second highest court in Australia behind the High Court. At the time of his death he was the preeminent expert on tax-law in the nation and had advised both the Thailand and Chinese govt on their own laws.
The manner of his death was open to interpretation - although death by misadventure seemed the most likely cause. However, given his importance to the nation, the Coroner wanted to make sure everything was covered so she sent a detective all the way from Sydney to interview me. Five hours in the local cop shop.
All this was shocking and confusing to yours truly and I still don't understand why a person of such stature decided I was going to be his best friend.
Suffice to say I have a particular interest in people who have alternative identities.

Now; back to the “alternative identities” issue...
I was once married to a person with an “alternative identity”...
Suffice to say that the shock and confusion the realization of that fact caused on yours truly has efectively viped out any interest in any kind of “alternative identity”.
