Always Brits that try to do these things! What is it? Self-belief? Bravery? Courage? Ability? Guts? “Never say die”?

But we SHOULD say “Thank you” to the Chilean Navy. Given its antecedents, it no doubt feels that it has much to thank Britain and the Royal Navy for. Bernardo O'Higgins (part Irish), Thomas Cochrane (ex-Royal Navy, Scottish). Always good to be aligned with a significant naval power. Such as the Royal Navy. Thanks for the refueling.

Don't see the argies out doing things like this. Too frightened? No floating boats?

Unusual for you to give such a warm hug to the Scots and Irish.

He needs to try something else. Clearly solo circumnavigation is not for him.

Oh Conquerer, there are many more... Former Chief of Naval Intelligence, Armada de Chile was held by Admiral Enrique O'Reilly. Most of our vessels are formerly from the UK.

Woke up this morning to overcast skies here and all my Apple equipment had automatically reset the time to an hour earlier. Being inept and trying to manually reset to the correct time, I accidentally reset my iPad to 2016.
Out of curiosity, I checked my browser for news and came across this curious article about Argentina...

10 March, 2016 Buenos Aires, Argentina (AP) — With no one else on the ballot, state media reported Monday that supreme Cristina Elisabet Fernández de Kirchner was not only again elected to the presidency in Argentina, she won with the unanimous approval of the country, which had 100% turnout.

Argentinians went to the polls on Sunday to approve the new roster of deputies for the Justicialist People's Assembly, the country's newly created legislature.

Though results for the other seats in the assembly had not yet been announced, Argentina's media quickly reported CFK had won the presidency without a single dissenting ballot.

“This is an expression of all the service personnel and people's absolute support and profound trust in our supreme leader as they single-mindedly remain loyal to her”, the state-run Argentine News Agency said.

Voters in the election have no choice who to vote for — there is only one candidate's name on the ballot for each district. Instead, they have the choice of voting yes or no, and according to official accounts virtually all choose yes.

The Justicialist People's Assembly usually meets only once a work is done by a smaller and more powerful body called the Kirchner Bolivarianism Revolutionary Supreme Council.

So have the 21st century English deteriorated to the same extent, or is it only a problem on the periphery?

don't see or do not know?
you dont have too many books there in the islets, do you?.

”The first person to successfully circumnavigate the world single-handed via Cape Horn was Argentinian Vito Dumas, who made the voyage in 1942 in his 33-foot (10 m) ketch Lehg II”

    #11
According to Wiki. it was Joshua Slocum who took the title.

However, Dumas achievement was equally impressive.

yes joshua slocum was the first to circumnavigate the world single handed, but he did not cross the cape horn.
    that is the difference.
on the other hand vito dumas did it 3 times, all of them successfully.

and now we have aurora canessa, 66 years old woman, circumnavigating the world, after crossing the atlantic single handed.
i think his partner in this new adventure is a scottish guy
