I hope Sánchez Ceren recognises that the margin of his win is so small that he cannot and must not antagonize his opponents by continuing to promote his intended alliance with ALBA. To do so will make El Salvador ungovernable and we will be witnessing another Venezuela - maybe worse because El Salvador has no oil and its main export crop, coffee, is presently suffering from “roya”, an airborne disease which is difficult to combat.
The economy of El Salvador relies very heavily on remittances sent from abroad by expatriates, especially in the US, and this result could well be the cause of a severe reduction in these remittances.

I've read two books about the “football” wars and think this is only another sad chapter of problems the people if this country faces.

The football wars took place over 40 years ago and are totally irrelevant to the present situation. You clearly are totally uninformed viz a viz El Salvador.

    The Chavistas will be pleased.

Although I can't really see how El Salvador can provide any viable support for Maduro.

It is not support for Maduro - it is the other way around.

There are several ALBA financed companies already operating in El Salvador and during the election period ALBA Petroleos gave away thousands of laptops to schools as part of their support for Sánchez Ceren and the FMLN.
