Grytviken post office. Plenty of stuff to buy there. An excellent place to visit (except for Argie Scrap Metal Merchants!) Still got my Falklands pound coin.

Lol! Marcos is a scrap metal merchant. Must be very frustrating seeing all that scrap lying around? Or perhaps he was on that sinking sub. Whatever, they surrendered! Anyway there's a rat eradication programme going on, better keep away Marcos...

South Georgia, now that was named more that 100 years before the fabrication of Argentina, the Falklands was named the Falkland Islands 100 years before Argentina was fabricated.

Fabricated, what a lovely word, fits them to a tee, fabricated, just like their History of their Malvinas!

A proud moment for South Georgia to honour its future King.

Prince George will be King of England one day, after Charles and then William. The lineage stretches way, way in to the future now.

In a few years Cristina will be dead or in gaol. Argentina will still be stuggling with corruption and internecine political conflict.

The Falklands and South Georgia will remain BOTs or will become independent sovereign states with British support.

    Rule Britannia!

PS: These coins are currency anywhere within the UK, for those interested!

Are you sure? I know Falkland Islands bank notes are not legal tender in the UK so why would coinage be different?

Given, South Georgia was first sited by a London merchant in 1675. Then in 1775 James Cook circumnavigated and landed on the Island, and claimed it for the UK. Oh and this claim was never relinquished.
Now, Argentina didn't exist until 1861.
So can anyone explain the logic behind Argentina claiming South Georgia?
It can hardly be geographical proximity as it is about 1400km East South East of the Falklands.

It's south of the equator, therefore Argentine.

it's somewhere on the planet, so it has to be Argentine, everything must be Argentine, or will be if they manage to steal it.
