    Then.

Jesus Christ, haven't they ever heard of singing from the same hymn sheet?

They might has well default now, because honestly, they do not seem to have clue.

A component government (or business) always makes provisions for losing a court case that will involve a payment.

The fact that the Argentine government was so hubristic that they are now facing default is indicative of their woeful inability to manage the economy and the country.

Should Argentina default, it won't be anything like the last time. The amount is much smaller and everyone has learnt their lesson.

There is a reason that these bonds were not issued under the legal auspices of Argentina. For some to believe they can magically be transferred to that jurisdiction is naive. A default does not automatically mean that negotiations will mean settlements are under Argentinean law.

If anything, the last several years actions have made that less likely.

    @#1 Trolldarmus...

Can you explain to me how your country, which is supposedly blessed with a thriving economy and deep, deep national reserves of money, cant afford to pay 1.3 billion?

Im no economic maester but, in the big scheme of international monetary systems, 1.3 billion is peanuts.

How come your country, which you have sworn and avowed is filthy rich and catflap, cant afford this tiny sum of money?

Were you just lying, or is your government just lying (again)

I hope that Argentina doesn't default for pain it will cause the average Argentinean. Not the rich people supposedly like El Diego who won't feel much pain at all.

I hope that Argentina does default however so that their current government's economic ideas are discredited.

I think that the only solution is that the whole thing falls down to pieces completely... Many will suffer yes, but it is undoubtful that the “average Argentine” is responsable for the current situation. The Stateist system and mentality that has being existing since 1945 needs to be purged and cleansed, its the only way forward Im afraid, there is no other solution as I see it.
Besides even if it 15 Bn we have to pay, its only 10% of national revenue the Ks will bring the country to default provided that they keep on spending on nonesence like Aerolineas, AR-Sat, Telam, welfare subsidies, FpT, WC transmition, etc

I agree. It is my same opinion of Venezuela. Sometimes you need a system so discredited that the thought of continuing or resurrecting is impossible.

Though you have the example of Russia who is now pretty much resurrecting the Russian Empire Mk1 and Mk2 (Soviet Union). So perhaps they never hit rock bottom hard enough. Ukraine did though.

I don't know how to purge Argentina of Peron's legacy. But you would think after all the problems it has caused over 70 years that it would have been.

Starting from scratch with a new constitution and government might be the answer. But that already happened after 1982.

Perhaps the only option is for parts of Argentina to go it alone. BsAs province is big enough to be a country based on services and manufacturing while the rest develops differently. I don't know.

But if Argentina can't shake Peronism as a whole, perhaps some parts can. And when they do the other parts will see the difference.

They do not dive ( only to score a try ) and do not crowd round and intimidate the ref. They would be in the sin bin if you answered back. Now then that is a sport not football, a bunch of namby pambys diving, they should be in swimming gala.

@36 USA are playing pretty well. I agree the rolling around the floor like jessies is a disappointing development in the game. I have two solutions.
    1) However long they roll on the floor, they must then leave the pitch and stand on the sideline for double the length of time (If they are genuinely injured they can receive treatment.
    Or my favourite
    2) If they roll around for longer than a minute and then jump up and carry on playing as if nothing happened they have to be tasered at the end of the game. I bet that would make the game popular in the US.

There you go expressing your ignorance.....in the knock out stages there can be no tie it goes to penalties.....
For you information the last world cup was watched in the States by one in twenty people....
The reason why not so many Yanks watch the World cup is they have to pay for it...in most other countries you can tune in for free....I think Disney has control of the network....
Even trying to watch it online...it is blocked in the US....there are ways round it...changing your VPN with a free trial for the month would do it...
Or watch the lesser games on the Spanish network..it's free....

I tried to get some friends to go to the Argentina game at a huge sports bar in my neighborhood but nobody wanted to watch soccer.
So I thought I'd go have a beer and watch the game the bar must be busy. It was a gorgeous day here and there was 1 table of Chinese tourist NOT watching the TVs so I left.
Everyone here has cable or Direct TV and ESPN is included in every package ( I think) so most people can already see it for “free”.

Its a game for young girls. I can't imagine in will ever rank comparatively higher than it already does.

Major League Soccer has the highest share of Hispanics by far (34 percent; second is the NBA at 12 percent) and the lowest income of any major sports audience. Nearly 40 percent of its fans make less than $40k.
