Oh how I wish the argies were stupid enough to try interfering with the construction / location of the platform.

But even TMBOA is not that stupid but in any event she will be long gone before construction on the sea bed commences.

I readily admit I have not been following this Falklands oil exploration story closely, but the last I heard (about 2 years ago) was that the drilling results were somewhat disappointing, or was this just misleading propaganda? Now that they are talking of production platforms what sort of future oil production figures are we talking about? Is this going to be a North Sea or a Dead Sea story? Just curious to know.....

ES10 As 11 says one proven field-Sea Lion from one company. Another had bad luck and all wells dry so went bust(now info says that they likely have oil in one area but not where they made the hole!). Another found signs of but was unable to complete drilling due to change in rockstructure safety where they were- they will probably drill again 2015 from different angle. Another small company found good signs of high value gas condensate oil - but lacked funds to drill appraisal wells- chances are they will get a partner and redrill 2015.
So far looking generally positive but a lot more exploratory drilling to do before we could rival North sea!

    @16,

The Argentineans are already begging for money. Dear Cristina went to Brazil yesterday because the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are meeting in Brazil to discuss the creation of a bank with its headquarters in Shanghai and Cristina obviously took the opportunity to go to this meeting in order to be its first client.

I wonder what she has in mind? Beg for money to save its economy since now toilet paper is worth more than the argentinean currency, or beg for money in order to buy inflatable boats to stop the Falklanders from taking what's theirs.

You couldn't do any worse than to put your money in these shares at the moment as someone else has said they are rock bottom prices now (27pence currently) & in 2010 went to £2.40 at it's peak. There are 5 fully funded wells to drill now & I can't see there being too much fuss made by Argentina save for a few words here and there.

The potential long term on this one is massive.

    @ 19 Pete Bog
“How's the Argentina to Falkland’s invasion tunnel progressing?”

Not too good as you can imagine with Polly in charge.

Polly had taken his new GPS unit off his bicycle in order to direct the digging. After three months they were surprised to break into a freshly dug tunnel, very similar to theirs, clearly dug by the Islanders.

After two days of debate, they decided it was the Islander’s intention to attack ‘The Motherland’. With their intense national pride aflame they ran as fast as they could to catch the attackers before TMBOA was violated and had her head turned by some dastardly guy known only as Pete Bog.

After only 12 hours of running they recognised a rock in the side of the tunnel that they had already passed three times before. Yes, they had dug the tunnel in a circle due to, it transpires, the GPS unit couldn’t find the GPS satellites (being underground and below the sea) and being a cheap Chinese model had given them a ‘guess’.

Polly’s hopes were dashed and with tears in his eyes all he could do was to grab his barrow and take it home, so there!

    :o)

We all know that oil exploration in the islands will not happen. They need assistance or if continent. That support my claim? That without the help of operatives continent must reside in the islands and that means creating a new city to house them. City shall have all services (incl. prostitutes) and this is not possible. Different operators would if living on the continent as it would be cheaper to make them rotate in shifts of 15 days. But this will not happen because Argentina is not going to work.
So what are all these islanders moved to do? Fireworks are just pure bullshit ..! Said first in 2015 and be in full production, then step 2017 and now stretch it to 2019 .. What happens is that with one eye watching the deep sea and the other is looking at doing the Argentina, hoping you decide to participate and thus finally able to extract that oil. At most a single well punctured by way of encouraging people but that they can not.
If for the “World Cup” in Qatar I have in operation more than 5 wells I do a “Pirate English”.

because of this, you ignorant coward.
you should know it, if you were a real british, nabo.

“UK National Debt - how Britain owes over £900 billion

It's a truly frightening figure. Why is the world's sixth richest country so deeply in debt?

Every year the UK runs a large budget deficit. The Government spends more money than it can tax, so we plug the gap by selling bonds to investors at home and abroad. These bonds - known as gilts - have to be repaid in full, with interest. Added together, our unpaid loans make up the UK's national debt.

Right now, that debt is growing violently. The Government forecasts it will soar to an eye-watering £1.1 trillion by 2011. To put that in perspective, the UK went bust in 1976 running a budget deficit of 6% of GDP. In 2010 that deficit is going to top 11%.

Historically, our debt burden was heavier after World War II. But like any loan, if the money isn't invested wisely we end up borrowing even more. When the Government runs up huge debts and produces nothing to show for it, we're the ones that shoulder the burden. This year that burden will grow by £167.9 billion.

The state has been wasting our money for decades. Weak politicians have bribed voters with endless amounts of borrowed cash. As a result, in 2010 the interest on the national debt will cost £42.9 billion a year. That's more than we spend on defence, and not much less than the entire education budget.

Future generations won't thank us for mortgaging their future. At best, national debt will be a millstone round our children's necks. But if lenders lose faith in Britain there could be profound consequences for our currency, our country and our lives.”

Firstly, do you admit you lied about the UK being the most indebted country in the world?

Secondly, did you copy and paste your entire post from 2010 ?

“The Government forecasts it will soar to an eye-watering £1.1 trillion by 2011.” That was 3 years ago!

“In 2010 that deficit is going to top 11%.” That was 4 years ago, at the height of the fucking banking crisis. If the government hadn't maintained spending things would have got a lot worse. TODAY the deficit has fallen to ~5.5% with all the projections suggesting it will drop to zero by the end of the decade.

    Also:

    - in 2014 the interest of the national debt as a function of GDP is in fact smaller than it has been for the last 100 years except the period between 1996 and 2014.
    - between the early 1970s and the recent economic crash the national debt (as a function of GDP) has remained fairly stable, suggesting that, at least for most of this period the government isn't over borrowing.

for 2014, the thing is even worse.
you dont have to be a genius to know it.
and yes it is not the most indebted nation, but the second behind the u.s.

“UK National Debt Surpassed £1 Trillion
Mainstream media headlines today are focused on Britain's record national debt, which just surpassed £1 trillion, a figure that can only exponentially increase unless the entire mechanism of Government finance is overhauled. The truth however is much worse, factoring in all liabilities including state and public sector pensions, the real national debt is closer to £4.8 trillion, some £78,000 for every person in the UK.”

“and yes it is not the most indebted nation, but the second behind the u.s.”

Nope, you are quoting external debt again, with seemingly no understanding of the fact that in addition to debt we hold a huge amount of assets overseas - again look up Net International Investment Position.

But, if you are you really going to force this, let's make it fairer and look at external debt as a percentage of GDP (surely, a more accurate reflection of a national external indebtedness), in which case we fall to 4th. But again, external debt is meaningless without taking into account foreign assets, of which the UK, as a major financial centre (like poor old Luxembourg with a heady external debt at ~3500% of GDP) has lots.

By Public debt as a percentage of GDP we are somewhere around 20th, below the US, France, Japan, Belgium, and Japan amongst others.

Why don't you go back to moaning that Argentina owns the Falklands? I must admit if you really are a Brit that's a pretty silly attitude to take. If you're Argentine its at least understandable as it seems to programmed in from birth.
