Oh wait till you hear Vestige's theory/prediction on Australia becoming a republic sometime in the next decade.

He hates our monarchy and is always frustrated by its continual existence and popularity. But then he has never revealed which republican system he lives under.

ah sometimes its worth feeding into the frenzy for the sake of saying what should be said. You'll see many such comments on the birth of the last baby.

An amazing amount of people feel the need to say 'so what'. They tire of seeing celebrity news presented as real news.

I got nothing against them, they're just in the kardashian, boyband, xfactor, big brother category for me (an a great deal of the population).

I dont understand the hype - but thats probably cause you find most talk of them in the womens section of the papers and glossy magazines - babies and social status updates.

They're celebrities fair enough. Thats all they should be.
And ... as anglo knows deep down thats what they'll soon be downranked to in Australia in the coming years. Its for the best.

Dont worry anglo you wont lose the pomp and ceremony - they'll still be welcome guests in Australia, and there'll still be horses and princes and princesses, all thats going to happen is the gov general will be replaced by an elected Australian. Aus will even stay in the commonwealth.
No relevant downside and you get an elected native head of state whos earned their place.

The republican side in Australia has bi-partisan support and an upwward trend as well as an incredibly near success under its belt.

Next labor govt will call the referendum, couple of years wait and then you'll be living in a republic Anglo. Congrats.

Canada this goes for you too.
Monarchies are only ever losing power or disappearing outright,

Wow, you do understand the principles of self-determination, finally you get it, civilised people in democracies get to choose who governs them and to whom they belong.

Well done and welcome to the 21st century, now spread the word in South America, you will be a modern day missionary.
