Argentina has recently launched a new communications Satellite with special coverage of the Falkland Islands and its other South Atlantic territories and Antarctic territories. You would think that the Island leaders who are keen on cooperation with Argentina would see if the could get a good deal for the information hungary islanders . It could be the place to start....but not very secure..........

    @1
Where did you read that the FALKLANDERS are keen to cooperate with Argentina, as Argentina do not recognise the ISLANDERS. THE FALKLANDS are not Argentinian and what other South Atlantic territories and Antartic territories are those?

“Mr. Mason said he would welcome dialogue between the two tourist boards to work together to achieve a positive result in the tourism sector in the coming years.”
He would not have said that without instructions from Falkland polititians and this is not the only example of some Falkland polititians who are wearing rose tinted glasses and thinking that they can get cooperation with the Argentinians... without consequences. They (the Falkland polititians) need a good talking to from the electorate....AND when i mentioned this subject on this site a few days ago,it was completely deleted and the thread was interfered with (badly) and who would do that ? the editors normally put “comment deleted” but this was wiped out. Did someone get to the editors/owners or was the site hacked ? By whom and why ?

@3 You clearly have no idea what you are talking about, although we would like dialog on several issues, like fishery management, we would never place our only means of online communication in the hands of the Argentines, they would then have strangle hold on us. Also, the only company with a satalitte uplink is owned by the Batelco Group, they negotiate what satellites to use.

We, the people of the Falklands (although i imagine some would not agree with me). Issues of common interest, of which there aren't many to be honest, but things like fisheries stock management, allowing charter flights into the Falklands, tourism and shipping links and dialog towards Argentina ending its constant bullying of my country.

You, A Falkland Islander may want dialog but the Argentinians threw all those toys out of the pram many years ago....so dialog is not possible until they 'need' it ! Many many Falkland Islanders do not want dialog.

Yeh i know that, i live here, but dialog on some things would be beneficial, it doesn't have to be with the government, but reasonable people within Argentina, so we can build relationships for the future.

Perhaps the information was all one way with the Falkland islands providing all the fishing info to Argentina who then used it against them. Ask all your fishing companies and officials how much information came back to the Falklands ? The Falkland existed as is from 1833 to 1972 with no contact or trouble from Argentina, then 10 years of uncertainty and near extinction and you want to go back for more of it ....or were you not around when your neighbours controlled your access and supplies ? Rule 1,never trust an Argie...rule 2 , never trust an Argie....Rule 3 ,never ever ever trust an Argie polititian...rule 4 ...get the idea !

I work in the fishing industry and i know there was extensive information going both ways in regards to fish stocks, catches etc... I wouldn't want them to be in the position of control they had in the 70's but realistically we do need some stronger links to the continent, although Argentina would would have to drastically change it's policy towards us, Argentinians aren't bad people, many of them just need to look past there education and there governments propaganda and see that the Falklands are here to stay.

British citizens in them Islands aren't bad people either, many of them just need to look past their education and their governments propaganda and see that the Malvinas are here to stay......... but in quite a different form.

@Think, the Falklands government does not partake in propaganda and i was never really educated on the Falklands war, as it's not part of the British curriculum (although i did choose to do a history project on the battle of goose green). So what exactly do i look past, the fact i was born and grew up here, like my parents, and my grandparents?

    Therefore, just ONE clue...
What would you call the “Information Stile” of this “Medium” we are communicating through?

What has this site got do do with FIG? it's simply reporting news. Where not the ones putting up signs all over our public transport, which is first degree indoctrination and propaganda, its something i would expected from north korea.

    Mercopress is FIG propoganda?

    Bahahahaha

Wow! Argentina just became more pathetic in my eyes. This is all FIG feels it needs to counter the millions of dollars spent by Argentina.

    Dear Lad...
    1) Inform yourself... Ask a grown up Kelper who's financing this “Medium”... They didn't use to lie to each other... Maybe this has also changed...

    2) Maybe you don't have “Signs”in the couple of buses you have on them Islands...
But you certainly seem to have “Signs” everywhere else...

Wow you really are stupid, there is a difference between patriotism and propaganda, the signs in Argentina are mandatory, they are being forced on people, that is indoctrination, much like the Nazis did. And how am i a squatter? I have lived here my whole life, it's my home. Take it to the IJS and i doubt they would care about what happened in 1833, we have held de jure control of the Falklands for almost 200 years, that is what matters not the vague history of the Falklands. Actually why am i even arguing with you, your clearly an indoctrinated malvinas fool, unable to think logically about the situation.
