So he is selling the gold reserves to buy war planes, but can't afford toilet paper and basic food stuffs for the people of the country. And don't think for one minute he won't use those planes against his own people.

He may well use them against his own people, but starting a war with Guyana over a land dispute that was settled a hundred years or more ago, is what he actually believes will distract the population from the lack of basic food stuffs and other items.

The people of Venezuela can only hope that they lose this war, and that the rest of the world is generous enough to feed them.

And they would lose any war, because regardless of the lack of support of Guyana regarding the Falkland Islands, they are still a member of the Commonwealth, and the UK would certainly step in to assist if asked.

And the USA certainly don't want Venezuela (or Cuba for that matter) expanding its influence and rotten socialist hell any further than they have already, so the USA may just send a few planes down there to swot the annoying Venezuelan flies.

Like most dictators, they will push and push, as long as they can get away with it,
or do anything to distract the masses.
